Has anyone ever flown with ATA? Is what was your overall experience with them...good or bad?

Ken

I live around Midway Airport in Chicago so as a rule I use ATA. Fares are pretty reasonable and service is ok. For flying to WDW I find the schedule is not bad if you consider an arrival or departure from St. Pete's. Only bad (real bad) experience was last January caused by fog in Chicago. They could have kept us better informed and waited over 8 hours until they announced the flight was cancelled. We had to scramble to rebook a flight the following day and find a hotel for the night. Again, they can't control the weather but it was frustrating. I've flown with ATA several times since with no problems.

We have flown with ATA numerious times over the past 8 or so years and have never had one problem with them yet. I prefer to fly out of O'hare as it is closer to my home, but if ATA has the best deal I will not hesitate to use them. They have a newer fleet of planes now and their flight schedules aren't too bad. They are pretty comparable to the other majors, except they don't have a first class section.

We fly ATA from Chicago to Orlando an average of twice a month. We used to fly United and American, too, but lately their fares have been outrageous. Also, I like the fact that ATA gives you a free companion ticket after three roundtrips, with no blackout dates.
The only significant delays we've ever had were caused by weather (once thunderstorms and once fog). I love their 757-300 aircraft with leather seats and adjustable headrests (they also fly regular 757s and 737s). They sell headsets for audio and video entertainment for $2, which you can keep and use on future flights.
The only ongoing problem we've ever had is changing our seats while doing web check-in and finding out at the airport that they will not honor the boarding passes (this has happened MANY times). Other than that, we are happy with ATA.
