At which age(s) do you think wearing a string bikini is inappropriate?

If she has a good body and can rock it, an older age makes no difference! Think Helen Mirren in that red bikini!

Under the age of 15ish. Besides that I think any age is fine as long as they have the body to pull it off.

But I agree that there are many other ways to show alittle less without showing too much :thumbsup2

I love bikinis (string or otherwise). I figure if you have the guts to wear one, then more power to you. I wish my body was still good enough to wear one. Heck, I may buy one next summer anyway. Sorry if anyone's children are traumatized by my aging body.

My girls are 3 and 15 months and will be in one pieces until they are old enough to buy their own suites. I am 35 and I wear a tankini,as do most women my age do.

This was an adult and not young - think geriatric. The woman was thin and could definitely do a bikini if it had been age appropriate. I have no problem with people wearing what they are comfortable with, but I think they should also have some consideration for what other people have to look at - especially young children on a public beach. Shall we say there were bits and parts hanging down and out that just shouldn't have been on public view. :rolleyes1 Yeah, those, teeny tiny triangles didn't cover enough.

Oh God! I Hope I don't become that woman !

I dunno. I'm 37-- no kids, though-- and have a few bikinis. They aren't tiny string bikinis, but I wear them with no flab or weird bulges, so I guess it's okay.

At the beach today I saw someone for whom I thought it was totally age inappropriate. After I see some responses I'll post this person's approximate age.

As long as the strings are not obscured by sagging rolls of fat.:scared1::rotfl:

If you didn't like what she was wearing, why not look away? I'm sure no child was traumatized by her wearing a string bikini. Most children wouldn't even notice. Why exactly should people have "consideration for what other people have to look at"? Why would you care what a bunch of strangers think about you? As long as you are happy in your own life, what others do or think shouldn't effect you at all. Just live and let live.

My first thought was go granny!

I don't know about age per se. It's more like, you notice when something is amiss.

Bikinis are hard to pull off. No place to hide. Either you got it, or you don't. I'm not saying, "I make that call", I'm saying "people" do. There is a difference between a sight and a sight. Whether a person admits it to themselves and wears a bikini or not. It's like the saying there is an elephant in the room that no one wants to acknowledge, only it's at the beach (and no, I'm not talking about size -- just overall).

IMO, age has nothing to do with it but body type/BMI does.

I don't know, if the woman wanted to wear one, :confused3 who cares? I think that kids are going to witness some exposure issues at the beach so it that traumatized them watch out for fat guys in Speedos :scared: A few years ago we were at a poll by the beach and this pretty old guy sporting a pot belly pranced by in a skin tight Speedo. My eyes are still hurting ;)

As long as you can pull it off the more power to you.. I have never been able to pull off a bikini..

Since I dont want to scare any one on the beach. My beach attire is board shorts and I tank. I know when to cover up:lmao:

My oldest wears them (will be 15 next week), and most of her friends wear them. Everything is covered (she wears a small in most clothing, but her bikinis are a large), and I envy her confidence in her body (although she has a great figure, she lumbers, doesn't strut ;)).

When I was a teen, my mom wore them, and although she looked good, I hated having my mom in public in a string bikini.

I don't think age has anything to do with it, if you still look great at 70, go for it. I am sure Jane Fonda still looks great in a string bikini!

I think at least 18. My daughter is 11 and I bought her a 2 piece bathing suit but it was nowhere near a string bikini. I think a girl should be closer to an adult to wear something that skimpy and revealing.
This!
