At what temp do you/your child start wearing capris?

I almost had my dd (Kindergarten) wear them today since it is now about 50° out.

But I put her in a skirt & tights instead.

I usually watch the weather & as long as it is sunny & Dr. Mel says it will hit 60, then there is no problem. On a day like today I like to make sure there is full sunshine since they go outside to play when the bus drops them off (and it was about 30 then) & then before the bus picks them up shortly after 11 & it was about 45 then.

Still chilly here in Vermont. Thursday night is Beach Night at my DD's school. They all get their summer shorts and tanks out and come for two hours of food and music and games. Lots of fun.

I feel lucky that I live in a state (other than confusion) where I can wear shorts/capris almost all year round. :goodvibes

Cheeze

I would let them wear them now if its warming up.. My 14 yo son has been wearing jean shorts most of the winter.. He is old enough to know better lol but I figured its not my legs freezing.

I have seen kids where shorts all year around here. The temp is about 55 today and I let my DS12 (16 days short of 13.....and he tells me every day:lmao: ) wear shorts today. Tomorrow it will be 66 so my DS9 has already asked about shorts for tomorrow. Since we will have snow again by the end of the week I figure why not.:confused3

:lmao: Just got kids home from school and first thing DD asked was "Can I wear capris today?" It's 62, but I'm holding out for 70s before we crack out the spring fashions.

No hard and fast rule here. Our school doesn't dictate when they can or can't wear them they just have to be a certain length. They also discourage sandals and flip flops. If my kids are bus riders I make them wear tennis shoes. If I am driving/picking them up they can wear sandals. I prefer t-shoes for school though. That's just me. :confused3

I agree that the skort is the greatest thing ever. DD has a very tiny waist and long legs so I have problems getting her skorts long enough that also fit her in the waist. It looks like bermudas are in this year. That helps in terms of school.

I just hate this cold in the AM and hot in the PM weather. Makes it hard to dress the kids.

If I remember correctly, I was allowed to wear shorts to school if the high was going to reach 60- in Upstate NY, that meant it could have easily been 40 degrees when I was waiting for the bus! Generally after a day or two of being cold and the novelty wearing off, I wore pants until it was really summer weather. I don't think there were capris when I was in elementary school.

I never wear Capris!:confused3 Soooooooo NOT me!:sad2:

I started wearing capri jeans once we hit 65-70 and regular capris after we went to 75 and higher. of course that was just 2 weeks ago...and now I am wearing shorts because it never stays 75-80 here for long.

we are 90:scared: :dance3:

She did fine, she was actually hot at the end of the day. It's supposed to be even a little warmer tomorrow so maybe I'll get real crazy and put her in short sleeves AND capris together! The school didn't call or anything...I bet the teachers were wishing they had on shorts or capris as well! It was HOT in there!
