At what age do you remember your first Disney trip?

DisneyLand at age 4. I remember my parents sorting through and tearing out the tickets for rides. The teacups were my favorite ride, always loved Alice in Wonderland, in case you couldn't tell by my avatar. They had to buy extra tickets so that I could ride it again. I also remember running to Small World because there was no line, although that is because we used to have a picture of it that would surface from time to time. I don't remember anything else from this trip.

DisneyLand age 6. We went with another family. I remember eating at a quick service restaurant and watching the pirate ride from a window up above, I waved to every group that passed by. We also watched a show, probably at the Diamond Horseshoe? My Dad and the other Dad rode the Matterhorn, or whatever was in the mountain. They came back and told their wives, who do NOT like rollercoasters, that it was a smooth ride, not rollercoasterish at all. We watched our Mom's board the ride and our Dad's both began cackling and had us all run to the spot where they would disembark. The women were NOT happy at the end of the ride, but the Dad's grinned the rest of the day over it. :rolleyes1 Don't remember anything else.

My DS does not remember anything from his trip to MK when he was 18 months, nor from MK when he was 4. DD does not remember MK from that trip either, she was only 1yrs old. They tried to (goodnaturedly) bust our chops for not going to WDW until 2006, when they were 6 and 9, I pulled out the pics and showed them they had a least been to MK, even if they did not remember. They both remember a lot from the 2006 trip, but that is due to the DVD that we made of our numerous pictures set to Disney music, and the interspersed videos/digital recordings.

Scientifically, most people don't have many memories before three (they may have memories from repeated stories or photos earlier) that remain into adulthood (a five year old will remember being two or three, but by seven will likely have forgotten those events). Even until ten memories don't tend to really "gel"

(We didn't take a first Disney trip until I was sixteen - and honestly, most of my memories are through pictures even at that age. I have a few memories that I think are "true" - not supported by pictures. Epcot had recently opened.)
But kids are really delightful at Disney in that early preschool age - there is so much magic and wonder, that the memories YOU make will be great.

At the same time, three year olds tend to need more down time, usually still really need a nap (a five year old might need one at Disney). Logistically five year olds are easier.

My first trip I was 9 months old and we went a few times after that as well but the first one I actually remember was at 4 years old.

Christmas 1973!!! I was 7. I remember a lot from that trip. waiting to get into the park, it was at capacity. the best ride to a 7 year old boy, mission to mars!!!!! sitting on the curb by the theater on main street and my dad telling me to enjoy myself, don't know when we will be back. :lmao: little did he know at the time. :rotfl:
