At what age did your kid...

Wow. I guess what I find more shocking than a 10 year old who doesn't wipe his own butt, is a 10 year old who would allow some strange man to wipe his butt! WTH? My kids are 8 and 11 and would not let me, their own mother, come near them in the bathroom, let alone some friend of the family. What an odd thing. I don't blame you for refusing to do it, Charade, I have never heard of such a thing! :scared1:

BTW, I think my kids learned to wipe their own butts at about 3. As soon as they were potty trained. I too kept the wet wipes on hand, and never had any problems with either of them. Thank God. :crazy2:

No, the 5 year old is the one. The 10 year old started wiping his own butt at age 9!

I would say they were on their own by about 4. We have wipes for the occasional messy job, but it is very rare. They don't always do the best job, and that is why we still do baths, along with showers.

My older DD was probably 5 when she did it on her own with occassional help from us for accidents. Wanted her ready for school.

My younger DD (age 7) is another story. She almost died from E-Coli so we were very cautious about her getting her hands dirty. I taught her to do it on her own for school but I still helped her at home from time to time, and we helped her more often than we did our older DD. Definitely for accidents.

Wet wipes are the greatest invention!

My ds (4 in November) tries to do it, but he just can't well enough. I'd prefer to do it for now.

I can't remember when my oldest started. He was by the time he started kindergarten 3 months after turning 5.

This is what I do as well. My son is 4 and can physically do it but really does a bad job so I do it. My daughter was the same way and was able to do a good job around the time she turned 5.

Probably 3 or 4. I can't imagine a 9 year old letting mom wipe his hiney...that is just weird. People really don't give kids the credit they deserve....

I used to work in a daycare many many years ago and I had a little boy that was almost 4 who couldn't put on a pair of shorts by himself because his mother would do it for him all the time. I'm not talking buttons/snaps, I'm talking pull up elastic waist shorts, there is no reason that I healthy 3 1/2 year old can't put his legs through the holes and pull them up. I wasn't going to do it for him and he learned to get dressed!!

Both of mine were around 2 1/2 - 3 years old when they were completely potty trained. I can't imagine a 9 yo not able to clean himself.

They don't go anywhere without them. They brought their own box even though we usually have them here. The last time the 9 yo was here he clogged the toilet with too many wipes. I said this time, wipe flush, wipe flush and I don't care how many times it takes.

I laughed so hard at this :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:
