Wondering what age you stopped using a stroller. Last year DS was three and we used it a lot. This year he is four, and looks rather ridiculous sitting in a stroller, but obviously would tire out less quickly if he coulr ride some. Wondering when others have stopped using a stroller???

I stopped using a stroller for short "mall walks" as soon as my boys could walk. Longer walks when they were about 3.

That being said, I had to rent a stroller at Disney for my 4 year old. That is mega walking he was good the first 2 days but by the 3rd he could not do it anymore. Also, I had bought him new shoes just before we left...bad idea.

At home my kids were finished with a stroller before they were 3 but at disney they had one at age 4 but once they reached 5 it was gone. We plan our days so that they get plenty of down time so are never over tired. Mind that we walk loads at home so they are used to walking.
We are able to do it this way as we are always at Disney for 2 weeks so are able to take it slower

My kids were out of stroller when they turned 3 - except at Disney and other parks. There, we rented them through age 5 - and I'll even admit that my son "shared" with his little sister at age 6 when he got tired.

We haven't used one. My then 4 yr old didn't use one at home and did not want to use one down in WDW. She kept up just fine.

None of my kids used a stroller at home past the age of 2. However, they've used them at Disney up to the age of 6. Try lugging a sleeping child from your bus to your room and you won't give a hoot about how ridiculous they look in a stroller. :scared1: I suggest you bring one. :goodvibes

Disney is just a different situation than normal every day stuff - lol. It also depends who the rest of the group is. If the younger kids have a place to sit for a bit, then you can go longer into the day and keep the older kids happy too. A quick nap in a stroller can also revive even the heartiest 4 year old so he can last till Spectromagic!!!

We were there on New Years Day. It was crowded - I actually felt safer when I was pushing the 4 year old in the stroller - at that height, people just didnt seem to see him (he is a big 4 too) and would just bonk into him!!! He was right at the level of peoples bags and backpacks too - got bonked into walking from Fantasy Land to Tomorrow Land and it knocked him off his feet - thank goodness he is good spirited and I was holding his hand. After that when he was walking with me I felt like I was steering him to push him out in front of me. Once he got tired though, into the stroller he went.

At the end of the day we ended up with a sleeping 2, 4, and 6 year old!! We had 1 umbrella stroller and of course were parked waaaaayyyy at the end of the row!! Bring a stroller - you can always just leave it in your room if you end up not needing it - I have to admit, it is nice though to have it to carry the bags, sweatshirts, snacks etc......but You know your kiddo the best!!

I'll be bringing my double for my 5 and 2 year old. They do walk most of the time, but we do a pretty camando style day. We leave at 8 am and are usually in the park until it closes.

I like having the stroller , it's a lot of walking for little ones. It's nice that they can have somewhere to relax and at the end of the night because they are usually tired and it's nice to know where they are when we are in a mad scramble to leave the park!

I would bring your stroller and play it by ear.

My 5 year old still uses a stroller for WDW and our local amusement park. Other than that she has not used a stroller since she was 3 for most things and 4 for all day things.

in "normal" life, I nixed the stroller at 3. At Disney, I'll go until age 5. We do a good bit of walking in the 8 weeks leading up to our trip - we call it Disney training. Even with that, a full Disney day is still too much for the 5 year old. As others have mentioned, it's also helpful for carrying the extra "stuff" that kids seem to need.

I am an oddball... at disney I still used one this past year for my 6 and just turned 9 year old. I take the girls alone and having them confined is HUGE for me. I will be getting one again this year for my then 7 year old. Unfortunately my oldest daughter will be too big. Oh where did the time go...... ok, off subject, haha... The strollers at disney are just so easy to push and keeping the sun off of them is as important as keeping their legs fresh. Even though they are hugely expensive, to me, they are priceless. My vacations would have been so different had I not had them.

Only used a stroller one day when my eldest DD was 4 1/2. Never used it again. Next trip with kids my eldest DD was 7 and my twins were 5. We did all four parks, Sea World and Universal with no problems, no whining, etc.
Kids have more energy than we give them credit for. :upsidedow

Lydia is a tall 6 and we are bringing one for her this year. Last year, Arminda, our short 10 year old road in it some too! I imagine she will some again this year! I could care less who disaproves of it! Seriously, it's up to you!!! If it makes things easier for you, have him ride in one.

I love to have it to throw all of our stuff in so I dont' have to lug it around!

ETA: At home, my kids haven't used a stroller in MANY years, but Disney is different, and like I said, it is SOO handy to have to hold everything! I may just keep brining it even after all the kids are much too big for it!

Or, what Wendy said!!! :thumbsup2 Well said Wendy!

For regular stuff my DS was done with a stroller around 3, but Disney is another story. I also have a DD (almost 2 now) and for our trip to WDW last Sept. I bought a sit-n-stand, just so my DS (6 at time) could have a place to rest and it was especially nice at closing or when we were moving through crowds. I could just make him get in and just concentrate on navigating the crowds, as oppose to pushing a stroller and trying to keep him with me. We're headed back this Sept. DD will be 2 and DS 7 and we'll be taking the sit-n-stand again. If I didn't have a little one that needed a stroller in the first place, we obviously wouldn't have taken one at all last year, but it worked well for us and our situation. I'd say at 4 to definetely take the stroller. Have a great trip.

Our youngest is 4 and she does not use a stroller at home, we will for sure be bringing it again this year to WDW for her. Better safe then sorry;)

All three of my kids stopped using a stroller at home when they were 3. Unless we were at an all day thing like the zoo. We would bring that or a wagon until they were a little older.

They all stopped using a stroller at WDW when they were 4. Our daughter was 5 when we were there this past December and she did great walking for 8 days without one. It was so nice!

Every child is different of course. Only you know what your child can or cannot do. If there was the possibility that one of them would have needed the stroller we would have brought it. We just knew they would be fine.:goodvibes

I would say if your kid still naps - take the stroller! DD#2 was 4 last time we were there, #3 was 1 we have a pic of them both out cold in the stroller! It also depends when you are going- if it is in the HOt Hot summer then the kids will need a break- heck I wish somebody would push me around sometimes! We also like it to hold our camera bag, and diaper/snack bag instead of carrying that stuff around- they can be a pain on the buses but we usually rent foem baby best friend so we have it wherever we go!

We stopped using a stroller at home at age 3 1/2 but at Disney we used one last fall when dd was 5. We still have a mac that we use for the zoo and long trips to the mall...not quick trips she can walk. But at Disney you are walking ALL day and it is so nice for dd to fal asleep at the end of the day and we can get her to the room much easier! We will probably still use one next year when we go and she will be 6.
