At what age did you get your drivers license and who taught you to drive?

I got mine at age 16 and DH taught me to drive. I didn't get much road time in my drivers ed class, it was more classroom. I couldn't wait to get my drivers license!!

I got mine at 14.
In NM you could get your license at 15 and we used our ranch address so I could claim I needed to drive myself to school from the country.
We really stayed in town, but I really wanted to drive. I had truly been driving since I was 8 on the ranch so it was nothing new.
I guess I started to learn to drive by sitting on my Mom's lap from the time I was 5 and stearing.
I still am not such a great driver though! :lmao:

I was 22. We lived in a city with a good tranist system, so I didn't really need to drive. I learned through Young Drivers of Canada.

I got mine at age 16. I couldn't wait to drive :yay:. I know some people who waited late (in their 20's) to get there license.

I was 16, about 2 months before my 17th birthday.

I waited 3 months to get my Permit, took Driver's Ed in the summer and had to put off some of my Driving Hours with the school because I dislocated my knee and had to let it heal.

My Dad was the first to really teach me how to drive/parallel park/reverse. Mom and Driving school were more like practice

15; got learner's permit at 14 1/2. This was in Louisiana.

I was either 21 or 22. I was in the Army in Germany and a Sergeant told me to move a truck from one location to another. I asked him "How?". He said to just drive it like a car. I told him I had never been behind the wheel of a car or truck in my life. So I learned to drive in Germany in an Army 2.5 Ton truck with a five speed transmission.

guess i'm the oldeset so far! lol i was 28, it took me having a kid to get my butt behind the wheel!!! i took lessons from a driving course here, cus we have graduated licensing and if you go with a course you can get your program done in three vs not goign and having to do it in 6.

funny thing is i was one of the first ones to turn 16 in my hs classes and just never went and did it.

I was 18. My dad said he was tired of chauffeuring me around. So I finally made an effort to get my license. I got my learner's permit when I was 16, just got lazy.

16. My dad taught me. he was a former Driver's Ed teacher, and he was NOT lovey dovey towards my driving education.

16 1/2 I got it on the last day my permit expired! My parents took me out of school to go get it. I remember getting called to the office during my American History class, the teacher HATED when people left during his class. I had NO idea they were taking me out so I couldn't warn him. I believe I got growled at walking out the door. He was one of my favorite teachers. Learned more from him than almost any other teacher!

I was 16. My mom taught me how to drive waay before then though. I practiced in parking lots when I was like 13. She taught me how to drive a stick shift too!! :)

16 1/2 - my Dad
I learned to drive in Dads late 70's Datsun B210 4 speed station wagon. :lmao:

I was 16 and finally passed on my third attempt (one more fail and I would have had to repeat things). My parents didn't really let me practice my driving, so I learned mostly from the driving school. Except my driving instructor was mean and just generally nuts and made me take her on sightseeing tours including driving past Jeffrey Dahmer's house.

I got my license on my 16th birthday. My Dad let me sit on his lap and steer until I was tall enough to use my toes to work the gas and brake.

That was over 40 years ago and go my first speeding ticket last week.:scared1:Darn cop did not care I had a perfect driving record.

I was 25. I always used the subways, so I didn't get the urge to drive until I had my first child.

I got my license when I was 18 and my dad taught me how to drive when I was 17. I didn't even get my permit when I turned 16 because I had no car to drive, so I figured, why bother learning how to drive if I don't have a car. And I was content with that. Then I had a dream one night that told me that I should learn how to drive. I told my dad, and also said that I needed my own car. So, he bought me a (used!) car. :)

I was 17 and I had driving lessons for that birthday present.
