We are staying at the Vistana, then moving onsite to AKL. Have Fun in the Sun Passes, so are doing the parks SLOWLY for once. For last week of July parks are somewhat crowded, but FASTPASS is functioning well, and, amazingly, PS's are available at most restaurants on a same day basis.

Thanks for the info, how is the weather? We will be there in 13 days. :Pinkbounc

Buzz Lightyear was open as of 2 days ago. Lines VERY long for standby. Quick as a breeze for fastpass

Erinch--

Hope you guys are having a nice time! I have a question for you...we are seriously considering the FITS passes for a 14 day trip in Dec. My previous trips have been almost commando style, using PHs for 5 days max, usually doing one park a day but occasionally park hopping. How do you like the slower touring you're doing this time? Are you doing just a few hours every day? How does it compare to the full day touring/occasional park hopping plan? Would you recommend touring this way? Sorry, that's a lot more than one question! :D Just curious to know your opinion on spreading out the "magic"...thanks!

we are loving doing it slowly!
We went yesterday to Epcot, and did some of the things we usually breeze by--watched the chinese acrobats (awesome) and saw the china film; ate in Japan (awesome).

I grew up near disneyland, knew it when it was adding attractions and you cherished your E-tickets and spaced them out, and am really enjoying introducing my kids to "leisure" in a park to explore the nooks and crannies.

our one issue is this family moves slowly in the morning, so we tend to get there with the rain. if you could get everyone out the door at 8:30, then go back in early afternoon it would be ideal.

Thanks for posting erinch--

You know, seems it would be everyone's dream to be able to tour slowly...it sounds great! I was just trying to find a downside!;)

The only thing I wonder about is how we'll feel about skipping a day (not doing a park)...or going over to Universal one day, which DH really wants to do. It's that "gotta be at WDW everyday to get the full value out of the passes" mentality. I have 2 kids that will enjoy DQ and a waterpark (providing it's warm enough when we're there), and we may want to do those things more than once...which would make the FITS passes a great deal.

Anyway, thank you for posting and keep on enjoying the magic!! :D :D

How are the crowds -- I'm hoping they thin out towards the end of your trip. We'll be there on the 21st.

Hey Local Girl...

You may want to consider getting an annual pass. I am not sure how much the fun in the sun passes are, but if you are spending more than 8 days in the parks, the AP pretty much pays for itself. If you plan on using waterparks, the break even point for getting a premium annual pass is 10 days (I think).

Then you can tour all you want, go to the parks the days you want to, Universal or Sea World for a day or so, and then plan *next* years trip before the AP's expire. Then you won't have to buy passes next year!

Jeff,

Thanks for posting. I would LOVE to get an AP...but DH says this has to be the last trip to WDW for at least a couple of years :( (gotta admit, he's right for a few reasons ;) ). Anyway, the FITS pass seems to suit our needs well, so were seriously considering it.

Hi!

You said it's been sunny in the mornings with rain in the afternoons. Does the rain last through the night or does it stop after a few hours?

Thanks so much! Hope you're having a great time! We'll be there on Sunday!

it seems to be a 50/50 whether it socks in for the evening in sort of a chinese water torture thing, or whether it storms briefly and gets it out of its system. The weather has been gorgeous up until 3 or so every day

The way I figure it is the Fun In the Sun Pass is this incredible fluke which somehow we are in the right place at the right time to be able to use. (For those not in the know, do a search on it or email me, but basically it provides 30 consecutive days unlimited access to all Disney parks, including waterparks and DQ, plus Kennedy space center and a few others).

Since the break-even point is about 5 or 6 days on a park hopper pass, I figure that any extra days beyond that are all "free" -- and if you're not going back it's certainly much cheaper than a Premium annual pass. We are also doing Discovery Cove and Sea World while we're here, so really trying to space it all out.

How nice of you to write in during your trip..we arrive on 8/23..I'm a bit concerned with the new Fastpass system...apparently, even if you get one at park opening, the first time you can use it is after 10:00 a.m. Being an anal planner, it's throwing a loop in my itineraries! Have you seen this in all the parks?

Also, I now know BTMR will be closed during our stay-:( -but I've only heard rumors that The Lion King Show will also be closed (in AK) Have you heard this?

Thanks, and continue having a wonderful time!!!!

Lisa

Please post on your Discovery Cove experience after you've gone. We will be doing it on the 16th and would love to hear of your adventure and if you have any tips. Thanks for posting and have a great time!
