At WDW now with DAS—issues with FP

Today is our 2nd day. We used the DAS without problem yesterday. Today we were in Epcot and I’m not sure what is going on but it’s been a headache. We got a return for Test Track and later went on it. When TT return was issued it showed all 6 of us. Then after riding it it was bizarre because it showed 5 of us still had it and only 1 of us were then listed on our regular FP for Spaceship Earth. We went back to the TT area and they told us we needed to go to guest relations to have it corrected. Went there and we were told it was just a glitch in the app that we were seeing and all was fine. So we continued on to Spaceship Earth where the CM at the FP line told us 5 of us had already used them for there—and she gave the time that we got on Test Track. After explaining it she let us all go on. We went over to Soarin next and said it was for 6 people. The CM there was able to clear out the FP for TT because it was still showing those 5 hadn’t been used there. Ate lunch while we waited for our time and when we went to get on it had 5 of us showing only. Noticed a FP we had for later in the day did the same thing where it took those 5 off and left 1 person on it. Has anyone run into something like this? Not sure if it’s our account acting up or the system in general today.

Also, is there any type of assistance we can get for the resort transportation? We have the DAS for my 8 year old. Between waiting in line for the bus, being over heated (this is part of his rare disease which he reacts to), etc I spent a good 15 min of the bus ride having to restrain him while he raged because he would have hurt others and/or himself. It was an extremely crowded bus which made all of it very difficult. Everything I’ve read seems to be about lines in the parks, maybe it’s wishful thinking anything can be done about this scenario but would be wonderful to avoid that again.

I had FP at HS for SDD TOT RNR the only 3 rides I really do there so I got a DAS for SDD well before my 12 FP went to ride and it took my FP instead of the DAS ( mind you my return time was for about 9:30-45am did this for the other 2 rides

The DAS only works for in the park so nothing for the bus. If you need a quieter ride back try going at off peak time like right before the night time show. Or use a taxi service

We used Uber a few times last trip and it was wonderful! I think the cost was between $10-$20 each trip but not more than that. I'm not sure if they pick up at the parks but maybe someone else knows? We walked from Epcot to the Yacht Club to grab one to Saratoga. At the end of the night, that $10-$20 is a bargain for getting you quickly and quietly back to your hotel.

FP and DAS issues happen sometimes. A small ‘hiccup’ in the app can really mess things up. I like to take screenshots of the FPs each morning before we get to the park. As we add DAS or other FPs, I screenshot those too. Not foolproof, but has helped sometimes.
FP and DAS are separate systems that just both show up on My Disney Experience, so it’s very odd that one affected the other.

As the other posters mentioned, DAS is only for the 4 Theme Parks.
As far as bus waits, traveling before peak times helps. If you want to stay for the nighttime activities, waiting in the park a while until you see crowds start to thin helps a lot. Most of the crowd tries to rush out as soon as the show/parade ends. Waiting a while let’s you walk out in a smaller crowd and the first, overfilled bus or buses will have left before you get to the stop.

Taxis and ride shares like Uber pick up from an area near the buses. At closing, you may be waiting a long time though.
You can ask exactly where at Guest Relations, one of the CMs at the bus area or even those right at the exit. For MK, you could walk to Contemporary and ask the Concierge to get you a taxi.
The Minnie buses pick up at the parks.

This is why we’re disneylnd people. No way my kids can handle waiting for transportation. We’d have to uber.

Confused - did you have a FP for TT or a DAS return time, or both? Also, did the DAS holder tap in first?

My son can have issues on transportation...we drive. We'd never be able to do Disney buses. Frankly, worrying about having to restrain him on a crowded bus is my worst nightmare. But for getting from MK to the transportation hub, I have found the CM were able to help us creatively address crowding.

MamaK- We had somewhat? similiar issues once at MK for the mine train. I will summarize:

Seven dwarfs mine train
1. FP return time of 2:30pm - 3:30pm
2. DAS return time of 1 pm

Some how when we rode mine train at 1pm and the system pulled in our FP which was not good for another 1.5 hours. We thought the system had used our DAS. We went to get a DAS return time for Splash and so that cancelled our mine train DAS. The CM looked at the FP/DAS system and could see all this had happened on the system.

There was no real issue but it was very odd.

For the 1pm Mine Train ride, do you remember if the person DAS was issued to scanned first?

To use DAS, the DAS ‘holder’ needs to scan in first. The Mickey head will glow blue, alerting the CM to look at the picture on the screen and verify it shows the person who scanned. The CM will clear it, then the rest of the group can scan.
If someone else scans first and you had both Fastpass and DAS Return Time, it may use the Fastpass first, even if it’s not time.

For attractions where you have both a DAS Return Time and a Fastpass, have someone else scan first to use the Fastpass and the DAS holder scan first to use the DAS Return Time.

There have been more MDE issues lately than ever before, including having Multiple Experience FPs erroneously used in place of the regular FP you meant to use. I suspect the same may also be happening with DAS. And not having all FPs show up for all members of a party. It’s getting to be quite the headache.

We use uber to the parks like Epoct, DHS and AK. For going to the parks when it's hot out! Then we do use the bus back but we do wait a little longer for the park to empty out so we're not on a full bus.

I know it has been a few weeks since your post, but if you haven't seen anything more on the topic...

I had the same issue affect my DAS account suddenly mid-trip in May and a higher up level CM at Guest Relations said that although rare, it has been a known glitch in the system since at least April and the computer tech team is working on fixing it. The GR CM said hopefully it would be fixed by September but it is not a quick fix.

Many CMs are (at least back in May) unaware of the glitch, including non-supervisor Guest Relations CMs and supervisions at attractions. In May, the procedure was if a FP was eaten instead of the DAS time, even with screen shots of everything, I had to trek all the way to Guest Relations at the front of the park to be reissued a FP time. The GR CMs there can see the DAS holder's record of attraction scans and confirm there is no lying and attempt to cheat the system. I was told at GR that supervisors at the attractions can see similar information on their tech pads and can allow overrides for that particular attraction, but I tried this twice and both supervisors said that wasn't possible and sent me to Guest Relations at the front of the park. I was also told that even though the FP disappears on the MDE app for the guest, it still shows up on the tech pads that GR CMs see. I tried this though and even though it was showing up in the CM tech pad system and was assured everything was going to be fine, it was not showing up on my MDE app and my MB would not scan the pass as working. It is quite a tech mess.

Unfortunately, the only guaranteed solution until the computer glitch is fixed is to not use the DAS for an attraction before using a scheduled FP for the same attraction if one's DAS account has been bitten by this bug. The amount of time and energy spent trekking to the front of the park wasn't sustainable for me, and even though there are many CMs who are understanding and accommodating, it was mixed with many instances of being called a liar and treated as if I was trying to cheat the system. I know it wasn't personal as they likely deal with all sorts of attempts to cheat the system daily, but it was still humiliating to have to plead my case and beg to be let in because I was in too much pain to go all the way back again to Guest Relations.

Would it have been possible to just not go on the attraction a second time? Pleading and begging are no way to have a good vacation, and I'd have just gone to another attraction and asked for a new DAS time.

So everyone gets 3 pre booked FP per day but guest with the DAS. it is up to each person to decide how they want to spend there time at Disney if they chose to spend it talking pleading what every you call it with the CM then that is what they chose to do. It happened to me I chose to go to GR and talk to them. That was my chose
