At VWL now.....NOT HAPPY!!!

Due to member feedback, and to cut down on complaints, guest who complain will be eliminated by the newly formed Guest Elimination Team.

I hope the OP is having a better time and that she will update us when she returns from vacation.

I was looking at the OP's previous posts and there were some about having to change their dates from June to July. And then there was something about three studios and a one bedroom. Maybe they got the studio with no balcony and the dumpster view.

I was thinking there might have been a deer meandering around their 1 br unit - just a Disney touch of realism ;)

4 units - wow. Well, now we know why she hasn't checked back in - too many people to keep track of and keep happy. :goodvibes

Well, that will teach me to be drinking coffee while DISing. Now I have to clean up what I have spit out. A waste of good coffee. :lmao:

I hope that the OP's issues were cleared up quickly. During the very few times when I have encountered a minor problem, it was taken care of within the day.

I would like to know too.

surpose to be there this Dec and if it has gone downhill may cancel.

Pat...this is the only VWL complaint we've seen in the past several months, so I don't think you can say that VWL is "going downhill". I certainly wouldn't let one thread change your mind about VWL. Especially if you have a December reservation. Doesn't get much better than that! :thumbsup2

My experience has been that it's best to start with the front desk face-to-face. This brings a manager on the scene right away. On the phone, you might get a flunky who's working off-campus and you have less leverage. I've had problems rarely but, when I did, I've never needed to go beyond the front desk. Once the problem is resolved, it can't hurt to let Member Satisfaction know.

I am beginning to wonder about the OP. Why no update? Its been two days now and we still do not know what the problem(s) were....smjj :confused3:confused3

Sorry for the delay.......I am on vacation you know! ;)

I didn't intend to post a list of complaints; I really just wanted to know who to contact about some issues. But for those who must know, here they are:

There are 11 of us in a 1-bedroom and a 2-bedroom lockoff. I'm not sure what to make of the first incident. Both villas were reserved by me in my name using my points. But when we got here there was no reservation in my name but instead one of the other guests. I thought this was a little strange but it wasn't really an issue until my inlaws tried to call our villa and were told that we were not guests of this resort. They were worried until they were able to reach us be cell phone. I don't know what this will mean during check out with any charges, etc.

Villa # 1: Broken sofa bed - the frame looked like someone had whacked it with a sledge hammer.:eek:Bolts were missing and there were sharp, jagged edges. I didn't want my kids sleeping on that! After literally hours of discussion and CM visits to our villa they finally brought a replacement.

Dirty dishes and utensils from previous guests in cabinets.

Villa # 2: Only the studio part of this villa had been cleaned when my friends got their room. Eventually, housekeeping came and cleaned the 1-bedroom section.

Shower clogged with water on the bathroom floor.

The dryer in this unit overheated. Literally fried a piece of clothing!

Bathroom cabinet door fell off.

We have reported all issues and with the exception of the sofa bed problem, everything has been taken are of in a timely fashion.

I don't normally complain but VWL is my home resort and I'm a little worried about the upkeep. Our friends have been considering DVC but they don't seem too impressed.

Other than these things we are having a great time. The weather has been wonderful and the crowds are not too bad. We've enjoyed some of the additional offerings at WL like the beach movies and marshmellow roast.:)

Wow, I'd be looking for someone higher up to talk to as well. Sorry you had to go through this.

Definitely let Member Satisfaction know. I really question where DVC is putting the money it is making, because I don't see it going to upkeep of the rooms.

I hate it when I read stuff like this.....it makes me worry about the quality control declining

It sounds like they took care of each thing, at some point... Please send an email to DVC to let them know what happened and make sure to point out that this is your home resort. There seems to be a major issue developing with maintenance and cleaning issues with the DVCs across the property. Whether it is staffing problems or somebody dropping the ball it should not happen. Remember it is your money that is paying for management, maintenance and cleaning of the resort. When a manager does not do their job, maintenance is not done or the room is not cleaned your money is being wasted or at least not used as it should be. You would complain if the check out person at walmart cheated you out of a dollar. You should complain in this situation also. Enjoy your trip but take a few minutes and drop them a line. Thank you for letting us know what happened.

All of those items you mentioned should not have happened period. There is simple no excuse. You just don't let these types of things happen. I still think many of these growing complaints are the direct result of DVC cost cutting measures. They are now doing things on the cheap not so much to save money in a down economy, it is but to increase profits using the bad economy as an excuse....smjj

It is still amazing to me that guests (DVC or Cash) believe that every room will be 100% perfect each and every time, all the while complaining about late check ins, etc. We can't have it both ways. I don't see who anyone could forsee a clogged shower drain or that a cabinet door might come loose.

While it would be nice if this stuff doesn't get out of hand, but it is our own collective fault. If we report issues, like slow drains...they won't clog. If we notify the front desk that a sofa bed's bolts are loose or falling out, they might be able to fix it before it actually breaks the bed. But too many owners don't want to waste their time or be inconvenienced during their stay.

We are all owners and just like at your house, you need to be willing to stand up and take the time to prevent a problem in advance!

Since VWL is a sold out resort, I don't think cheaping out on maintenance saves DVC any money - it just saves members money in the form of dues.
