Disney's new slogan to be immediately posted at every FP+ line:
"At least you're not shoveling snow. Deal with it."
Here's the thing. I don't remember discussing FP return wait times much before 2012. That says something to me all by itself.
I remember discussing things like "stand by gets so long because they let in so many FP people all at once" back then.
I think many of them are just tired and burned out over it. Last time we were there in Nov/Dec, it was the "more mature" CM's that were openly expressing their frustration with FP+ - the younger CM's seemed more excited and positive about it.
But it sounds like it's even starting to rob the younger ones of their enthusiasm.
In October every CM I talked about FP+s and MBs with was over the top enthusiastic about it. Hadn't heard a thing bad about them, everyone's having a great time with them.
In January every CM I talked about FP+s and MBs with was very very NOT enthusiastic, and heartily encouraged me to make my feelings known to Guest Services because they weren't listening to the CMs.
I didn't hear one single CM be happy about the situations on this trip. Now...we didn't spend a lot of time in the parks this trip because I got terribly sick and most of our trip was spent looking at the inside of our hotel rooms with occasional trips out for food (and the Marathon weekend stuff that I'd paid the earth for and was NOT going to miss). But it seems awfully coincidental that I ran into all the negative CMs during our forays into the world!
We took a bump on 2/2 instead of flying home, and while hubby and son stayed at doubletree to watch The Game I went to Epcot. Once we realized we were volunteering to not fly, I made FP+s for myself for that afternoon. Then I got to Epcot and saw that my first ride's standby line was 5 minutes. I went to change it...no other experiences for this time. I went to change out the other two so I could move things around...no other times for this or that experience. Nothing nothing nothing. Ridiculous.
This was Superbowl Sunday, after the game had started. It was possibly the lightest day I personally had seen at Epcot, and we've seen light days since we rarely go during busy times. But there were no other times for my experiences, and no other experiences for my times or any other times.
So I said forget it. Got a nice big fancy beer in a Canada stein and spent the rest of the evening slowly making my way through Epcot chatting with tons of awesomely nice CMs. (none of whom had anything good to say about the new stuff)
I also love, "But now you don't have to run all over the park collecting fast passes and wasting so much time in yourday!" I never ran all over the park collecting fast passes, but it was usually convenient grabbing one for Space Mountain when I finished Barnstormer and was heading to Adventureland or Frontierland. And really, even if I had run all over the park, is that really that much more a "waste" of my day than standing in a FP+ line that is now 20 minutes longer than the FP line used to be?
You make a terrific point!
Maybe they shoudn't have put all that free wifi in the parks
Umm can you tell me exactly which week in April will be busy? We will be there from 4/5-4/12 and was wondering if this is considered a busy week?
I consider that to be primo Spring Break time, FWIW. Remember...if you can go during that time, remember why. If it's because your kids are out of school...then tons of other kids are, too.
My silly husband has a late March birthday. We have yet to do Disney for his b'day. Mine is over real Columbus Day and DS's is over Memorial Day, and we've done Disney for both of those, but spring break time makes me scared!
