At the park now, FP+ lines are snaking through the park

My DH says he would rather shovel the snow than wait in a FP+ line that he thought was suppose to be a minimal wait and was snaking around the park. At least you know what your getting into when you step out the door to shovel. ;)

But how does he feel about being set on fire? :rotfl2:

It's like when the airlines oversell a flight. Maybe they'll have CMs in the FP+ queue asking for volunteers to give up their FPs and return at a later time. J:rotfl:

Hmmm... if the FP line is too long, come back and use it later after your return window... interesting idea... hmmm...

I think we've discovered the reason they let the Zitti sisters and PUSH go -- They're planning a new show revolving around a new character: FastPass+ Queue Line Joe.

One sure sign that FP+ has failed entirely is when they start touting the interactive FP+ queues! :rotfl2:

I've been saying this all along. Disney is a corporation whose #1, #2 and #3 goals is to make as much money as they can. And as long as they can hoodwink people into ponying up their cash, regardless of how much the park experience has deteriorated, they will be doing their job for their stockholders.

They don't care about you as an individual guest, only about the bottom line. So if you're inclined to put up with this and keep returning to be slapped in the face over and over again, Disney will be delighted.

Sadly, there used to be a time when they made tons of profits BY caring about you as an individual guest.

I'm sure Disney is well aware of the problems... it's just not something that can be fixed overnight. They're probably arguing about what they should do right now. I wish them luck. :confused3

What I wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall in one of those meetings.... :cool2:

I bet they honestly don't give a crap. As long as people are still in the parks, they'll do nothing. It won't be until people get fed up and stop coming that things will change.

interestingly, she mentioned that part of the problem was people seeing that long line and getting in it, thinking it was standby, so the CMs at the first checkpoint had to explain that it was the FP return, and sometimes what FP+ is and how to get them, to confused guests. I'm very interested to hear her take when I see her later this week because she's been relentlessly positive about FP+ and was just there in the fall so this isn't her first go-round with the new system.

I saw this several times on our trip - confused guests. Or in some cases guests pretending to be confused mucking up the FP+ lines.

Hmmmm..... that is possible.

But something got their attention enough to turn off the comments on FB. Surely someone is uneasy about how this is being received.

I've skipped a few pages in this thread, so this might have been mentioned already, but, regarding capacity -- and those Star Tours pictures!! -- Josh had an interesting comment on the easyWDW forums yesterday. He said:

"They're supposedly distributing up to 75% of total capacity to FP+ for Star Tours, Test Track, Great Movie Ride and potentially others."

Hmmm, so, FP+ is the new Standby. I guess the decision at RD for DHS is going to be "sorry kids, were not heading to TSMM first thing- we've got to hit SB for the Great Movie Ride first"...???

Yup, that's a good point.

Although, it could just be that whoever runs the Facebook page took it upon themselves to delete negative comments, and corporate knows nothing of it.

We'll never know until (and if) this mess is fixed. Sadly, with all the money spent, there is no way they will abandon the idea. And that in all honesty, isn't completely unheard of. Many companies have invested lots of money in projects or software enhancements (I worked for one) that believed would be best for the company, but turned out to be just a disaster. They suck it up, accept it, and realize, the money lost due to a bad decision can be much less if the decision is reversed in time.

So only 25% capacity is left for stand by. :sad2:

Anyone know the percentage set aside for FP previously (on the rides that had FP-, obviously)?

And if FP+ is the new standby, what does that make the standby lines? How long before we're going to be rope-dropping the Muppets?

OP here

Ill have a longer update when I'm not running around HS got Jedi at 12:40

Overall from many many past trips during preaidents week and Easter this is a significantly diminished and stressful experience for us- at least I can drink here!

Thanks for the reports OP. Enjoy JTA!

The FP+ for muppets is hilarious. The merge point looks to be right at the entrance to the building. I have never in all my Disney vacations seen a show fill up there, nevermind have any sort of crowd that reaches back there. I actually think a washroom FP+ would be more beneficial than Muppets.

It's called a sunk cost, and any company worth their salt should be able to recognize when you're throwing good money after bad. If the program doesn't work, toss it, rather than continue mounting losses.

That said, "doesn't work" is a pretty broad metric. Perhaps it doesn't work when it comes to shortening waits for rides. But that it likely not the only metric they're looking at. They've attributed increased attendance to the new system, so that's a plus for them. They also said that Fastpass utilization is "substantially higher" now. Remember, the vast majority of guests had no idea what Fastpass was and didn't use it before. http://www.travelweekly.com/Travel-...om-gets-attendance-boost-from-RFID-bracelets/

Regardless, while the pictures certainly look bad, reports are that it's just because of a bottleneck at the front of the Fastpass line, and that the waits are not longer for Fastpass returns. I'm optimistic.

OP again
RRC 35 min posted 40

I disagree that the big hang up is in scanning, the FP queues are FULL!!!

Star tours is 10 min SB, GMR is 30--- I am in an alternate universe---

They need to start selling alcohol significant sooner.

...and garbage cans are overflowing at Disney- confused!!!!
