Was just reading that U-verse dropped Food Network along with HGTV and a few other similar stations. While I really like our U-verse service this is a deal breaker for me. I'm not a real big TV person (spend my free time DISing ;)) HGTV and Food Network are my two favorite channels. Looks like I'll be spending the next couple of days investigating Comcast, Dish Network and Direct TV. Too many choices out there to pay what U-verse is charging to not have my favorites. Anyone else in the same boat?

What?????? :scared1:
No more Food Network........if that is the case, I'm headed back to Dish
Thats crazy......

If history is any guide, it'll only be a matter of 'days' or 'weeks' before Food Network returns. Probably not 'months'.

We have U-Verse, but I didn't realize this until I saw your post. I'm sure the channels will be back eventually. Luckily for me, while I like Food and HGTV, they are just "back-up" channels if nothing else good is on. There's nothing on either of them that are can't-miss for me or that I regularly DVR. But unluckily for me, they are my primary "back-up" channels, which means I have them on fairly frequently - especially HGTV.

I'm not to sure about that, it's been over Aa month since we lost the Hallmark channels.

I am super mad at this! I tried to call them, but they close at 6pm here! What's up with that! Then they give you a stupid recorded message about losing the channels and to go to a website.

Yeah, we just went tried to turn HGTV on and it wasn't there!!! I am soooo mad  We'll see what happens, but if it doesn't come back by the end of the month we are going to switch to another provider.

I would probably give them a month unfortunately I like all the holiday food episodes. Grrrr....

ETA: DD9 just noticed Food is gone, she is a junkie! She loves all those Challenge shows.

Those are some of my favorite channels. Good thing I don't have AT&T u-verse. It wasn't available in our area or I might have gotten it.

Weren't the channels on Weds? We just got uverse on Weds. I swear I saw them then.

What I don't like is if you didn't know your channels (like me) & just go to flip they've put something else on there & you wouldn't know what you were missing.

The only reason I knew was a FB friend put it on his status that he got a $75 credit -he fussed with a manager about not getting the channels.

I had this bad feeling about uverse - but dh insisted. and since he said we could cancel within 30days I said fine.

So I'm game for canceling...BUT....having to schedule a DirecTV & internet provider again...............UGH!

Hallmark isn't in the same class as Food Network, ratings-wise. I do agree, though, with your implication that Hallmark may be gone for the long-term.

U-Verse isn't any different from Comcast, Charter, Cablevision, Suddenlink, Time Warner, Dish Network, etc. They are all concerned about costs, and they're all approaching a marketplace that is concerned about price. So far (and don't think this can't change - it can) the only service providers that place service over an objective to keep their price low are DirecTV and FiOS. But how many people will actually consider that better? They never lose channels, but your prices shall ride very high with them as a result. There's no free lunch.

After their carriage dispute with Fox, Cablevision announced a 2.9% price increase for 2011. Which way would folks prefer U-Verse go? Get Food Network back and pass the price increase along to you? or stick to their guns and try to keep the costs down, but perhaps losing channels like Food Network and Hallmark for extended periods of time, or perhaps even permanently?

I am SO incredibly annoyed about this. The food network is our most watched network here in our house. I am going to be on the phone with U-Verse TODAY and complain about this.

I Just checked my scheduled recordings, and it shows my Food Network shows still scheduled, but in the "Channel" box it just says "0". Bummer. I There are about 75 channels they could get rid of that I bet most people wouldn't miss.

Go figure, a month ago, I never watched FOOD. Just started in the past few weeks, and have about 5 shows on there already that I watch...er, watched.

I'm supposed to get U Verse at my house next week. I think we're going to cancel until they rectify the situation.

You can go to www.att.com/fighting4you and get the number to call Scripps. They took off Food, Cooking, HGTV, and DIY. Being a first time home owner, we need HGTV and DIY! lol

So anyhow, I'm sure they'll come to an agreement but for now I'm going to keep Directv.

You can also go to http://www.keepmynetworks.com/FoodNetwork_Landing.asp to email or call AT&T U-verse. They dropped Food Network, etc. From Scripps' perspective, you should "send AT&T an email demanding that they put your favorite network(s) back on your TV lineup."

:) Isn't it interest how these companies work? They each try to make it seem like it is the other company that you, their mutual customer, have a concern with.

They must have reached an agreement. HGTV is on right now. :thumbsup2

Hopefully, they're all back. I watch HGTV a lot and I'd be signing up with someone else if that one was dropped for good. I like the Food network too.

Yes, they're all back.:thumbsup2 They began running the announcement at the bottom of the screen about 10 minutes after I posted.
