Great deal! We upgraded one of our lines and will trade in the old one on amazon for $180.

PP- call your provider and see if they will give you the price. I know of a few people who were successful in getting 100 credit on their account!

My son has unlimited data on his iPhone and my overall plan can no longer be purchased. Whenever we upgrade, all of that remains the same. He keeps his unlimited data for $30/month and I keep my low-cost monthly plan with a very low number of shared minutes.

A coworker's MIL got the IPhone 5 for $29 at Walmart yesterday, but you must be eligible for an upgrade.

Does this deal require that you be eligible to upgrade? I'm not eligible until May 2014.

I think the short answer to this is no- you have to get your phone specific to your carrier because they are "locked."

I believe that Walmart sells verizon and att phones. I would also make sure that the 29 phone is a one time price and not 29 a month. When I bought our upgrade online I was offered 27 a month until I paid it off or a 2 year commitment for 99.

Update: I thought I would have a few days to get to the upgrade process, but when I tried to upgrade this morning to the 5s, the website wouldn't show the extra $100 off, and would lock up on me. I just did a chat with a Sales rep who told me that while some smartphones are 50% off until December 7th, the iPhone was a shorter-length deal and the $100 off has expired. Oh, well - it was worth it to me at the sale price, but not for $199 - I'll just have to wait.

I had an IPhone 4 (not even an S) and Best Buy gave me $115 for it toward an new gold iPhone 5s last week! I also got another $50 giftcard because I had signed up for another promotion back in feb if I upgraded by the end of the year! I was very happy!
