AT/SW question - need answer

We are leaving Monday on AT through SW. So . . . we need to go online SW and get seats and boarding pass?? Do I get to pick a seat or will SW will assign me one? There are 3 of us but we all booked separately. Also, will there be baggage fees?

I have studied this a ton this past week and I believe the answers are 1) They assign your seat which may or may not be with your traveling companions and you can try to change it once you get to the airport, but not before and 2) no baggage fees since booked through SW
