Today:

9. pray we get no more rain so my basement doesn't flood

Too late for me. My beautiful full furnished man-cave is flooded. We have a gravity drain to the road. (they said 500 feet was too far for the pump & gooseneck drain) Well apparently 500 feet isn't too far for all that water to come back into the house. The drainage ditches are overflowed onto the road and our yard (also along the road not just our house).

The little storage room (addition to the garage part) took the worst hit so far. Everything on the floor in there is ruined. Had a pretty nice carpet runner (MIL bought) that I'm not sure will be okay once I can get it dried out. Everything in the little furnace room (in the middle of the basement) got ruined. All the extra ceiling tiles are now trash. The floor speakers have water damage, but I think they will still work and that is all I care about.

So far we are looking at a 1/4 of inch. Doesn't sound like much, but man, the damage it causes is unreal. Luckily we put a special sub-floor under the pergo wannabe that has plastic little legs that are about 1/2" before you get to the wood. Makes the walls look shorter (because they are) but it has been worth it if we can keep the water damage from ruining the walls & floor.

So there is my whine for the day. And yes, I would love the cheese and crackers and company that can come with it.;)

1) School duty
2) Talk to someone at school about my little bit being bullied on the bus
3) Keep DH from wigging out about the basement
4) Try and work on the completed page swap

OH AWM!!! Water damage stinks....literally! When we first moved, our pump failed, and the water came in to the tune of 2ft high (was a hurricane). I had the Stanley Steamer people come out after it dried out and they sprayed something to get rid of the stinky...

:grouphug: to all our little ones that are getting bullied! Kids can be sooo mean!

Oh AWM we dealt w/ that about 5 years ago... on a field trip day for DS11's end of the year kdg. trip. It was awful.. I couldn't go as a chaperone and had to send a friend in my place...

Before you put anything back on the basement walls let me suggest
Drylock and fast plug.. the drylock will seal the cement walls... and fast plug works great to fill in the cracks before you put drylock.. Let me find the link and I'll email it to you. My dad sales the product and we put it in our basement.. The little leak we have is behind one of the walls we haven't torn out yet. All the other leaks are now gone because we have put the drylock on it...

Off to find the link for you... lots of hugs!!!

 AWM.... been there. I feel your pain. Hope things dry out soon.

Home sick today....... the only thing I hope to accomplish is to drag my butt to school later this afternoon. Not sure how I am going to make a hour's drive one way and a 3 hour class, but the consequences for missing are just too great. Gonna go back to sleep soon.

Hope your extra sleep helps with the schooling Mickey'sfriend.

PN96, it's not coming through the walls. So dryloc won't help. It's backing up the drain pipe. Ick.

Thanks. My sister did use that stuff on her basement though. :thumbsup2 She has a house from the 1920's with a cinderblock foundation. She put all kinds of stuff on the walls in hopes that they will stay dry. She's only been the house a month now, so she is going to wait a year before putting up drywall down there.

For today:

1. Get DD up early to do "crazy hair" for spirit day

Hey it's spirit week here too! Today was supposed to be backwards pajama day but it was also picture day so they changed to mismatched shoe day.

Freaked out the camera lady! LOL She thought it was 1 kid but as more and more came up she's like  so we had to explain it to her.

I feel your pain sister, I feel your pain! We had about 3 inches when the flooding began last year, thank the heavens above that DH was smart enough to build a platform to put the washer and dryer on when we moved in.
We still ended up with a dumpster full of stuff though. Now we keep a sump pump and a shop vac down there.

so what kind of cheese would you like, good cheese or stinky cheese???
