Get this -- HSN is currently having an event sale where the no-contract Samsung Prevail (Android Smartphone), with all accessories, is on sale for only $99.95 (plus tax, where applicable).

The phone's service provider is Boost Mobile, which means it's eligible for Boost's "Shrinkage" plan, which means after every 6 months of on-time payments, your monthly rate drops $5 (the highest end of the monthly rate is $55, and the lowest it will drop to is an astonishing $40!)

And that plan includes unlimited talk, text, and data on Sprint's Nationwide Network (so if Sprint works in your area, this phone will, as well).

The phone received favorable reviews on all the usual tech-related websites.

More information, right here.

Thanks. And if you buy it online, you can get 3% cash back from QuickRewards.net.

I paid $129 for my smartphone and pay $10/month :confused3

Not unlimited, but I don't have to be surfing the web while driving down the road. I use it on wifi 99.99% of the time....

It's AT&T, so far larger coverage area than Boost (Boost would get me a signal every now and than on specific roads it looks like on the coverage map...)

I don't have it on a calling plan though. I figured I could just do $0.10/minute for the 3 calls per 6 months I typically make..

I have one through virgin mobile, $35/month unlimited data and text and 300 minutes. For $10 more I could go unlimited everything. The phone has been on sale for $50-70 quite often since black friday until now. LG Optimus V.

Love it more then anything. I use it more as a computer then a phone though. I have no need to even make a phone call!

I also have the LG Optimus V with Virgin Mobile. I actually got grandfathered into the old pricing structure because I had my account before they changed the prices, so I get 300 talk minutes and unlimited texts and data for $25/month.

Was that a typo on $10 more for unlimited everything? Or do you have a secret for unlimited everything for $45/month? The site has it listed as $45 for 1200 minutes and $55 for unlimited everything. I've considered getting more talk minutes, but hate to lose my grandfathered price of $25/month.

I'm getting ready to buy the Optimus V, but the cheapest I've seen it is $99. Do you know where you've seen it on sale for cheaper than that?

What plan lets you have an android smartphone for only $10 a month? :confused3

If I had to guess, it would likely be Tracfone. I debated going with them, my mother did. I went with the Virgin Mobile Optimus V and also have the $25/month plan. I rarely go over that (300 talk minutes), so it doesn't cost me too much when I do. I also use it more for the unlimited data with Wifi and 3G and texting.

Tracfone doesn't have smartphones. I did have 3 Tracfones, $23.66/month with 100 "units" on mine and 80 "units" on the other 2. Since we just used them for texting back and forth, we were going to replace the flip phones with one of the new touch screen phones (not smartphones.)

Then I looked into AT&T GoPhone (I said AT&T in my post.) Real Android smartphones. $5 for text and $5 for data to keep them up to date. I initially put $25 data and $10 texts on, and now add $5 each to keep the unused rolling over. Yes, it is limited, but I am in wifi area any time I would be using the phone data for more than just looking something up on the net real quick. I don't walk around with the phone shoved in my face non-stop, so never use data.

Texting, my wife sends about 600 texts/month. It cost me $10 for 1000 texts, so I put 1000 on hers every month and $5 for data. I send about 300 texts, so I initially put 1000 on, then update each month $5 for 200 texts. When the initial 1000 finally dwindles down low enough, I'll put another 1000 on.

I have a switch on the home screen to turn data on and off. This way, the phone isn't using data when just sitting in my pocket (or plugged into the car radio as an mp3 player.) Just leaving the data turned on, my wife used 5mb the first day just sitting in her pocket while away from the home wifi for 8 hours at work.

Mine, I am on wifi at work and was downloading an app. The wifi signal isn't real strong, so it changed over to using data and I ended up using 25mb that day. Since then, I've put the data switch on the home screen and leave it off unless I want to use it for something.

$25 gets you 500mb, and I keep it active for $5 for 10mb each month afterwards. Without the accidental app download on data, thus far I would use about 5-10 mb each month.

I've used a cell phone to make a phone call on average about 3 times per 6 months so I didn't put a voice package on it. Phone calls cost $0.10/minute. I just installed the app Viber on both phones so when I'm at work and Wifey is home and both on wifi, we can call each other phones and it will go through the wifi instead of costing money through AT&T.

Same here. An inexpensive smartphone is hardly new.
