So since we are planning on only having a small number of people actually attending the wedding we are planning on having an at home reception the following weekend we return from orlando. My question is - did you guys where your dresses/husband where a tux?? Did you have a local bakery replicate the same cake or get a totally different one? Any other suggestions? Thanks!!

Everyone does it differently, I think. Some people have a second "real" reception and wear the dress/tux, have a wedding cake, etc.

We had a casual open house, where people came in and out over a 5-hour period and there were picnic-style snacks. I made a (pathetic) replica of my parents' homemade wedding cake and we did a little cake-cutting thing, but other than that we just had the video playing, some photo books for people to look at, etc.

We are having a pretty big at home reception with about 150 people. I am wearing a wedding gown but a more informal one and DF is wearing a suit. We are going to have a cake and cut it and do the garter, bouquet toss, first dance. We are going to show a video of the ceremony first, then the DJ will announce us into the reception and it will be pretty similar to a regular reception. :goodvibes

Thats us too!

I wore my gown again and DH wore a suit. The BMs wore their dresses again. We had an entiely different style cake and held the affair just like we would have if we just got married right before the reception. We had a table set up with pictures of the ceremony in FL and a laptop with our video playing.

My BMs kept saying "we really do get to wear our dresses again!"

We're having a big 100+ people "at home" reception in my hometown about a month after our wedding. It's basically the reception that my mom always wanted to throw for me. A Black Tie event dinner and dancing etc.

If I had a choice, I wouldn't go LOL but it was the compromise I had to make to have our small Disney wedding!

I wasn't going to wear my wedding gown again originally, until my mom insisted since we're spending so much money on the gown I may as well get more use out of it.

So we'll be presented as husband and wife in wedding gown + tux, do our first dance a second time haha. Then later after a bit, I'll be changing into a different evening gown for the remainder of the night.
