OK, so I still haven't started our Blurb wedding album (don't tell my MIL :rolleyes1), but I did put together a smaller, 8x10 photo book for our at-home reception that I thought I'd share.

We made two copies and had them for people to pass around, which turned out to be way more popular than looking at our wedding-picture slideshow on DH's laptop. At the end of the party we gave the books to the two grandmas, who have since been inflicting them on hairdressers and bridge clubs all over Northern California. :rotfl:

The books cost $24.95 each for 80 pages in softcover.

Extraordinary! You inspired me to make a book for our wedding. I'm almost finished and can't wait to see the final product. Thanks for your awesomeness! :cool1:

Great job!! The books are lovely! You did a really nice job!

Hey!!! I don't rememeber anything in your TR about the at home reception!!! :confused3

Wow - you did a wonderful job. I started a Shutterfly Guest book but have not worked on it in a while. You have made me want to go back and finish it. I love all the different layouts - especially the one of your new hubby and his mom dancing. I love all the different shots and I have to make sure to tell Misty to get photos of our food - yours looked yummy.

Thanks for posting,
Linda

You book is awesome! I really wanted to do this for the moms and grandparents in our family. Could you tell me were I can go to get a book like this. :) I hope mine will come out as good as yours did. :)

I Love your book or is it the photos? Either way it looks gorgeous!!!

Wow! It's gorgous! :-) And your crack about your grandmother's is priceless! :-)

Carrie, it's beautiful!!! You did such a nice job!

Well it's thanks to you that I can post it - I saw yours and was like "How did she get her Blurb book online...? Oooooh! Screen shots!" :rotfl: Thanks!

Ooh - I hope you post pix here. I love looking at wedding albums! :goodvibes

Ahem... well, since my report got locked in the great Trip Report Lock-up of '08, I haven't been able to add anything to it, including the description of our at-home reception. If I can get everything together - a report, the pix, etc. - the mods will re-open it briefly for me to post, but I haven't found a chunk of time to do that yet...:sad2:

Oh, I'm so glad you are inspired to work on yours again - I hope you'll post pictures when it's done!

Wow that book turned out amazing!!! I love all the different layouts.

Hey, thanks! Blurb has so many great choices to work with.

I made mine using free software from www.Blurb.com. Once you install it, you can easily drag and drop pictures from your computer into Blurb's professionally designed page templates - they have a ton of different ones to choose from, so you can't go wrong! :thumbsup2

I feel so bad for their friends, neighbors, gardeners... :lmao:

I love the book Carrie!

I especially love this one, it looks cool!

Hee hee - well you know what they say... when you love your subject you do a better job...

:goodvibes Thanks!

I made the book at www.blurb.com. (You have to download their free software, but that means you can save the book and work on it later if you want.)

They have layouts designed by pro graphic designers, and their prices are better than any other site I've found, especially for more than 40 pages.

Thanks! I'll have to check it out. The one I got from photographer cost me $750! :scared1:

I wanted to get one for both my parents but I can't afford that so I'm going to check out that site!

Yeah, the pros charge a lot!

The one difference is yours probably has actual photos inserted in the pages. These Blurb books are printed on a 4-color press like picture books you buy on Amazon, so you aren't getting actual photos applied on the page. But Blurb can be great for coffee table books! :thumbsup2

Carrie your book came out fantastic!!! I am just finishing up my guest book based on your reccomendation. I will post as soon as it is done. Now I can't wait to do one for our wedding!! I am hoping to make a couple for our parents and grandparents for the following Christmas after our wedding.

Quick question, how did you get your pictures to post the way you did?

Oh boy - I'd love to see your books when they are done! :)

I opened each layout in Blurb in preview mode, not edit mode, made it as big as I could, and then I took a screen shot of it. Then I just uploaded the screen shots to Photobucket.

Blurb's website really should let you preview more than the first 15 pages of a book, I think.... ;)
