At EPCOT - this is BAD

what does this have to do with student loans???

anyway did the guy try to say the kid asked for it like all the dudes who beat their wives?

Chill please, it was a side note about how being a doctor doesn't mean you're a good parent.

umm i was pretty chill, i was just wondering what it had to do with student loans and what you just said has nothing to do with student loans either.

I have to agree. I am not interested in how hot, crowded, tired, overwhelmed he was. Bottom line is that those are excuses for abhorrent, disgusting, abusive behaviour. And yes, it not only is an unthinkable and horrible thing to do to a child, but is upsetting for everyone else who had to witness such a terrible thing.
Just disgusting.:sad1:

I've posted this before here on the DIS: Coming out of Epcot one evening, we saw a family up ahead of us yelling at each other. They were speaking German, so not sure what the argument was about, but the dad suddenly ran at the son (maybe 12 or 13 y/o), grabbed him by the shoulder and kicked him in really hard in the butt. He kicked him hard enough that the kid was jerked out of the dad's hold and fell to the ground hitting his face on the pavement. I was surprised at the security that came out of the wooodwork. They were there like immediately. Not sure, what happened, but they grabbed the angry dad really quick, before he could hit/kick the kid again. What really surprised me though was the mom. She just stood there with her hands over her mouth crying and looking scared. She didn't do anything to intervene. Her husband was a really big man and looked mad enough to actually kill their son and she just stood there crying. She didn't even look at her son on the ground, just kept staring at her husband looking terrified as did the other two crying younger kids.

Not interested in keeping it OT, just to read the entire post where I brought it up.

I haven't read all of the details of this incident. Not that it matters, but has it been established that this father is a medical doctor? From what I understand, anyone who obtains the equivalent of a bachelors degree in Italy earns the title of "doctor," even if it's a degree in basket weaving.

And a MD degree is no guarantee of being a good parent.

Jim

Your statement about the title of any Italian graduate is accurate (I've lived in Italy), however I read on two different Italian news sources (Il Corriere della Sera and La Repubblica) that the man in question is, in fact, a medical doctor.
