At EPCOT now Anna n Elsa OH MY!

I have a friend that just waited 4.5 hrs yesterday and a group in front of them was offered $500 for their spot when they were at the 2hr wait.

I tried to find an "eyes popping out of my head" emoticon but none seemed to accurately capture my shock at this statement...

stunned.

Makes me wonder if I should try for that to help offsite vacation costs. With my luck, the big spenders wouldn't come along on my day....so never mind.

I was very much hoping that the craze would die down before our trip (end of August) but looks like that might not be the case

Very much hoping my DD won't want to wait on that line. Last trip we gave her the option of waiting 40 mins for ETWB or riding rides and she opted to ride rides

Wonder how the princesses feel about only being paid $16/hour when someone else is willing to pay $500 to only wait 2 hours to meet them

Hmmmm, gonna get myself a for sale sign & an early ADR at Akershus………

:rotfl:

Since both Aurora and Snow White meet at Epcot (and various character meals) and are nowhere near as popular, I would switch Fairytale Hall at MK so one side is Cinderella and Rapunzel and the other side Anna and Elsa. These lines are already equipped for Standby and FP+ and it would alleviate the Norway wait.

Super smart idea! I can't even believe all the crazy talk on this thread. DD has always liked meet and greets, but I just can't even imagine those kinds of waits!

Welp, I just asked 5yo Frozen-OBSESSED DD if she would be okay with only seeing Anna and Elsa in the parade on our trip, and not necessarily meeting them. She said it would be fine. Whew. I'll still try rope drop, but won't do any insane waits.

Um, you just said "it can't be that difficult" followed by "if it was hard to do, it would be hard to find, thus making the pay higher." This doesn't make sense. Then- you keep on mentioning that you make more than $16 an hour....and I can't figure out why that matters here. I completely disagree with your understanding of supply and demand because I don't believe it applies to the entertainment industry. Actors and models are known to work for free or very little when they are just starting out...hoping to get discovered.... just to get into SAG... build a portfolio and resume. There will always be a huge turnout and lots of interest for any paid entertainment jobs especially working for a huge entertainment giant like Disney.

Once again, that is in reference to getting people who want to do the job to a casting call...not the work they are actually doing. I mean if they couldn't get people to come out or nobody came out who had the "look" they would be paying $25 an hour to entice a wider more diverse group of girls come. Obviously the casting calls are swarming with girls who fit the bill or the pay would have to increase. That is what you do when you are trying to fill a job that nobody wants/or only a small fraction of the population can do. I highly doubt that many of the girls in Florida are actresses waiting to get discovered. In DL...sure, but there..doubtful. I also don't think you would be part of the screen actors guild if you are not on the screen with a speaking role or in a background role as an extra....but I could be wrong. Your last sentence shows you do agree with me that it isn't difficult to get people there...so it makes no sense that Disney would not try to have additional m&g featuring anna and elsa. So I'm glad you see my point:thumbsup2

I don't necessarily agree with nugov's position but "hard work" and "difficult" or "hard to do" aren't the same thing. The most menial tasks can be hard work even though they are easy to do.

Again, my reference was in the diffuculty for them to find people they are able to easily train...not to what the girls/guy are doing. This is what I actually said about the work the princesses do:

I get paid more than that at my 2 day a week p/t job and I would imagine the conditions of this job are way worse...

I was stating their conditions are worse...hard...difficult, but still the job is wanted by many who are capable of doing it thus making pay low.

It would be like if Matthew McConaughey put out an ad to hire a PA for minimum wage...I bet that job would not be difficult to fill and it possibly would be very demanding...but I'd venture a guess he may even get some very qualified candidates who would work for free! Again, nothing demeaning about the job itself, just that it isn't difficult to fill ::yes::

::yes::You have to be able to transform well into the character.....it's not just all looks. They have to do this all day.....everyday. It's not all that easy.
It's crystal clear what I am talking about here. I am talking about the job not being easy. You responded to my comment.

Doubtful. It can't be that difficult if they only pay up to $16 an hour. If it was hard to do, it would be hard to find, thus making the pay higher.

I believe it's hard work.

I didn't say it wasn't hard work
Now- you are here trying to change what you said......that's why this discussion will end here----it's not going to go anywhere. I don't have to go back and switch my words like you. :sad2:

OH NO......I don't know what you're talking about.....I don't agree with a word you put down here. Sometimes- it's just best to agree to disagree. Bye!!!!!!!!!

Waiting tables is hard work. It is not hard to do.

Riding a unicycle is hard to do. It is not hard work.

Playing Elsa or Anna may or may not be hard to do and may or may not be hard work.

I still can't help but think that Disney isn't really taking advantage of this. They have basically put them in a corner of a store in a land that is way too small to handle the crowds. They could do so much more while they are so popular but they don't. It's odd.

I agree. Find a spot at Epcot to make a FP+ line. Then put it in tier 1 with TT and Soarin. That would eat up some crowds for sure.

See and that was my point....I said training someone to be a character wasn't hard to do. Transforming to the character and finding someone to look like them IMO is not hard to do and the easiest part of the job for WDW. The hard work is dealing with the conditions..ie the crowds, crying kids, heat etc. That is the distinction that I was making and again why I made the comparison to my job being higher paying and the conditions much better than that of a WDW face actor(clearly I did it poorly) and the fact that people do this for only $16 means the job is very popular..ie supply and demand. And is why actors do work for free when they are starting out. The supply of actors is so high that will do anything...even work for free to get their foot in the door. If the supply of actors was low...they wouldn't have to do that. But I won't beat the dead horse any more...if you choose to think I am bashing the Princesses that is fine, but it is not what I was getting at.

Someone asked if you could easily see them from the gift shop or sidewalk...the day we went, YES. The whole wall was open in the gift shop so we easily got pics without waiting (see my profile pic). We were there when they were finishing for the day and they walked right through the gift shop when they left AND stopped to talk to a few girls who were in there.

So if they are adding Anna and Else to the parade at Magic Kingdom, what are they doing when they are not in the parade? I can't imagine you pay someone to be a character in a 40 minute parade, get them all in makeup and costume and that is all they do all day. Isn't there a chance that they will meet around the parade, isn't that what a lot of the other characters do there?

I have a friend that just waited 4.5 hrs yesterday and a group in front of them was offered $500 for their spot when they were at the 2hr wait.

I totally thought about that- I was thinking if people were offering money.
Its awful. Totally puts me off.

HOWEVER, $500 would cover a lot of my expenses here!! Lol

They're going to be in the MK parade?
