At Bonnet Creek right now

How does it compare to onsite Disney resorts? :) If this is your first trip, is it as good as you thought it would be?

We're going to Bonnet Creek for the first time in May 2010 - I can't wait.

Please feel free to tell us more.

How is transportation (or do you drive to the parks?)

What food is available?

What is the pool like?

What is the accomodation like (rooms/beds) and how comfortable?

Balcony/patio?

This is our first stay here. We have stayed at all Disney mods, and there is no comparison. We are in the Torre de la Luna building, with an incredible view of Spaceship Earth. Room 1186, 11th floor. I will post pics of the view later. I called about a week ago to make our villa request. I asked for a fireworks view, highest floor possible and got exactly what I asked for. Keep in mind that the fireworks views are facing the parking lot/garage, but since we are 11 floors up, you would have to look down to see them.

Service thus far has been awesome. Very friendly staff. It took us a total of 5 minutes to check in. We arrived at 3:00pm and had no problems getting our room keys even though official check in isn't until 4pm.

There is a lazy river and pool bar/eatery right outside our building. We ordered pizza last night and had it delivered. We thought that it was pretty good (expensive, yes....but everything is here, Disney or otherwise). Delivery took about 45 minutes.

We won't be using the transportation here as we have our own car and with a two year old, we want the freedom to leave the parks as we want. If we were onsite, we would do the same though. Having stayed on-site, I have to say, this resort may not have the Disney theming, but we still feel like we are on-site. You drive through main gate to get here and are surrounded by all things Disney.

We are sold on this place and I think I might have to try to convince DH to look into resales to buy here.

Thanks for the report. So glad you like it.

How far away is the new Waldorf hotel from where you're at? Is it walkable from your building?

I just checked out their website and it looks amazing. What's the best way to make reservations? Any good deals out there?

Have a wonderful time, btw.

:)

We will be staying there the second week in October. Any particular buildings to request or ones we should avoid? Thanks for the info! Enjoy the rest of your trip.

Are you an owner or did you rent from an owner or thru Wyndham? Every time I've checked for availability thru the Wyndham website I'm told there is no availability at Bonnet Creek.

Thanks for posting. We will be there in a few weeks. What items do they have in the room for you to use (soap, laundry detergent, etc)? Trying to determine what to take and/or buy when we get there? Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

We spent 10 days there as guests of the owner for fathers day. Honestly it was nice but the construction was a bit of an eyesore. My only other complaint was they called us at 8am on fathers day morning and tried a high pressure sales pitch telling us we had to attend a 2 hr presentation. We were guests of the owner and did not have to do anything of the sort.

Its really nice, I've seen better however for the location and as close as it is to Disney its a good deal.

I am not sure if this applys to you now because of the weather but we ar looking at going early Dec and I am wondering if the pool(s) are heated? Thanks for taking the time while you vacation to answer all these questions!

We had to make a Walmart run last night. Forgot to pack shampoo and they only give you a very small tube of shampoo and conditioner. Same with most everything else. I think that you would do better by bringing your own toiletries from home.

As for pool heat, I am not 100% sure, but since pools are open year rounnd, I would almost guarantee that the pools are heated.

It really is a beautiful resort. We haven't received a single sales call. We are staying as guests of an owner, so we just had to pay the transfer fee, so I can't answer on how to book here.

Crowds are great. We went to MK yesterday and the lines were minimal. Longest wait was 15 mins for Haunted Mansion. We only fast passed Peter Pan. Headed over to Epcot today.
