We arrived Saturday night. Used FL Tours for our limo transport to the resort. They scheduled a grocery stop for us, but the driver didn't sound happy about it and then told me I had 20 minutes when I had been told 30. I felt like I was playing Beat the Clock, running through a store I don't know trying to find groceries. We were hoping to grab enough food to last us without having to rent a car. I was so tired after running through the store!
We arrive at the BCV and check in takes a LONG time. Our villa is nice (great view of Illuminations, even if we are on the 1st floor and can only see the fireworks when they are high in the sky). There is no room service menu, and we are starving (we bought kid food), so I call to get a menu, and it takes about 90 minutes. A few hours later, we realize that the refrigerator is not cooling any of our groceries. In fact, most of them are warm. So at 2:30AM, someone comes to take the food away. The next morning, I called to get what might be salvagable of our food, and they can't find any of the refrigerated stuff (including a 12pack of coke, which I could have kept), and the frozen stuff is ruined, plus they bring us someone else's chicken.
I run down to the Marketplace to look for breakfast items. My son eats hotdogs and eggs for breakfast. My daughter gets a pop tart. Then I go to the Dolphin to rent a car from Alamo, then off to a store for food.
I have to say that I was pretty depressed about the whole thing. Shopping under pressure ONCE is not fun; having to do it AGAIN is definitely not fun. The resort reimbursed us for the replacement food, but that doesn't replace the time I had to waste on the whole exercise. I feel like at least a day of magic was lost because of it.
Oh well. Aside from a malfunctioning disposal, the villa is fine now. I still think that the refrigerators do not work well. The ice cream we have is like soft serve ice cream now.
The walk from our villa to EPCOT is 5 minutes or less. Totally awesome. I love the bus service to the parks. No problems or long waits yet!
