We arrived Saturday night. Used FL Tours for our limo transport to the resort. They scheduled a grocery stop for us, but the driver didn't sound happy about it and then told me I had 20 minutes when I had been told 30. I felt like I was playing Beat the Clock, running through a store I don't know trying to find groceries. We were hoping to grab enough food to last us without having to rent a car. I was so tired after running through the store!

We arrive at the BCV and check in takes a LONG time. Our villa is nice (great view of Illuminations, even if we are on the 1st floor and can only see the fireworks when they are high in the sky). There is no room service menu, and we are starving (we bought kid food), so I call to get a menu, and it takes about 90 minutes. A few hours later, we realize that the refrigerator is not cooling any of our groceries. In fact, most of them are warm. So at 2:30AM, someone comes to take the food away. The next morning, I called to get what might be salvagable of our food, and they can't find any of the refrigerated stuff (including a 12pack of coke, which I could have kept), and the frozen stuff is ruined, plus they bring us someone else's chicken.

I run down to the Marketplace to look for breakfast items. My son eats hotdogs and eggs for breakfast. My daughter gets a pop tart. Then I go to the Dolphin to rent a car from Alamo, then off to a store for food.

I have to say that I was pretty depressed about the whole thing. Shopping under pressure ONCE is not fun; having to do it AGAIN is definitely not fun. The resort reimbursed us for the replacement food, but that doesn't replace the time I had to waste on the whole exercise. I feel like at least a day of magic was lost because of it.

Oh well. Aside from a malfunctioning disposal, the villa is fine now. I still think that the refrigerators do not work well. The ice cream we have is like soft serve ice cream now.

The walk from our villa to EPCOT is 5 minutes or less. Totally awesome. I love the bus service to the parks. No problems or long waits yet!

Thanks! We had my sister watch the kids for 2 hours so we drove across the street to MGM and rode the TOT. My head is still in the elevator! It was fun.

The villas are really nice. Quiet, nicely equipped. I don't suppose appliances break down all that much...we just got really unlucky.

There is a wonderful Gingerbread and chocolate carousel in the BC lobby. We watched them build it the other day. Amazing!

I'm so sorry that happened to you!!!

I hope the rest of your trip goes better!!

Oh no! We arrive at BCV in five days and will be staying in a 2br dedicated villa. We too have a grocery stop scheduled (happy limo--told us only 15mins--yikes!), but now I'm a bit nervous. I guess I'll check the fridge temp before putting the groceries in thanks to your heads up.

I'm glad everything else seems to be going well, though. Enjoy the remainder of the trip!

Sorry to hear of your problems with the refrigerator! Yikes!

Glad everything is going well now though. Have fun!

We came back from MK today and the lights and everything are absolutely beautiful. What a wonderful place to come home to! Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I can't believe we have to leave on Friday already....

Sorry to hear about your problems. We use FL Tours all the time and request a grocery stop. One of the drivers tried to tell us that we only had 20 minutes to shop even though our flight was actually in ahead of schedule and we only used carry-ons so there wasn't any delay at the airport. If you know your driver's name you should let the company know. Andy is a DIS sponsor and I'm sure he wouldn't want people to be disappointed in the service he provides.

Glad to hear that Disney paid for your groceries. When we were at BCV last May our room wasn't ready so our groceries were stored for us. When we called to have the groceries brought to our room we received half of our groceries and three bags that belonged to another family. We called the front desk as soon as we realized we had three gallons of milk and only one belonged to us. The front desk picked up the bags that didn't belong to us but unfortunately whoever received the wrong bags didn't return them. A manager from the front desk called to find out what we lost. He sent someone to the store for us and picked up all of the items. We joked about saying the filet mignon was missing but would never do something like that.

Annmarie, thanks for your advice. I will let FL Tours know about the rushed grocery stop.

I am glad Disney paid for the groceries, but it would have been nice for them to volunteer to pick them up for us. The car rental wouldn't have been necessary if our groceries hadn't been spoiled, and we didn't use the car for much the rest of the time. I should have returned it after one day, but it was just too disruptive to get it done. We just wanted to be in the parks!

We're home now after a very long day of traveling (75 degrees in Orlando, to 23 at the Chicago airport, to 50 in San Jose) and we really had a nice vacation :sunny: . We need to spend at least 10 days there next time...there is so much to see and do. We only went to SAB for an hour on our last full day. The air wasn't very warm most of the time, and even then, it was still chilly getting out of the water. The kids LOVED it and I'm sure would have wanted to spend a lot more time there. I didn't get to eat at Beaches and Cream but I saw some amazing sundaes there!

It was so great to be on property. Everything felt magical even if you were just taking a bus. My sister had a HUGE HGVC villa not too far away though, with a large kitchen and a lot more square feet. But until my kids are older, onsite at a DVC would be my first choice!

Sorry to hear about your problems. Enjoy this magical time during the holidays. I hope someday to get there for Christmas.

I have always wondered, depending on the size of your family/party and how long your stay is, how can you go to these huge supermarkets and do a quick grocery shop in 20 minutes. Even with a list and splitting up - how do you get it done in 20 minutes. Do they time you? How do they charge if you go over. I have just always been curious about this. We usually have a rental or once had our own car - just wondering if everyone does this within the time frame given.

TIA.

Happy Holidays too and glad you enjoyed your stay :)

Use Bob from Sunray the next time. I can almost guarantee he will not time you.

Our FL Tours driver tried to give us the 20-minute thing, too, but I just said something along the lines of the website being clear that the stop was 30 minutes and went my merry way. They also know your flight number/airline and are supposed to check your flight to verify arrival time to time their pick-up, so I wasn't going to take any guff over the flight being 10 or 15 minutes late. Anyhow, it wasn't an issue for us, and I agree to let Andy know about your experience. I think some of the drivers are just antsy to get on to the next tip.

Sorry to hear about your problems. We have always used Tiffany Town Car. We request the large van and Berkley as our driver. Last year he practically begged us to stop for groceries. This year we used wegoshop I faxed in our food order two months before our Vacation and our groceries arrived with in an hour of checking in.
To wrap up this post I give "Berkley" with Tiffany Town Car, Five Stars and Two Thumbs up, and Wegoshop another Five Stars and Two Thumbs up.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I have never had trouble with our villa refrigerator...in fact, last visit we had to turn it to be less cool because things in the fridge were freezing. Perhaps you had a bum fridge?

I hope the rest of your trip made up for the problems at the beginning. :goodvibes
