Myself, dh and ds (2) arrived at bcv yesterday afternoon for our first stay here. We stayed at bwv in fall of 2010, and have stayed at blt and ssr previously, in addition to a bunch of non dvc resorts. we arrived at mco 25 minutes early (our first southwest flight, direct and early!) and when we got to ME the bus to bc was loading and we were away within a few minutes. We were of course the third stop, which is a pain with a squirmy toddler, but we managed. Checkin was a breeze and we went straight to our room. A few minutes after we got to our room, a bellman showed up with the mini crib I requested (and forgot about). Its the same dimensions as a pnp (same sheets) but has a nice mattress and it doesn't make a ton of noise every time my ds moves! Plus he tends to sleep in the corners, so I like that he doesn't have his face pressed into the plastic of the pnp! I will be requesting them from now until he outgrows them for sure!
I was very excited to try out bcv because I thought bwv was great except for the pool and lack of cs dining (I like food courts, lol) and I was sure bcv was going to be just right. We have travelled to Disney in January before, and the first time it was warm enough to sit by the pool one day, and the second time we never even considers it, so I wasn't coining on really being able to use SAB, especially with a toddler, but he does love the water. The weather decided to cooperate and has been, and is scheduled to be, great. Our room is very nice, clean and issue free. But I think we have been spoiled. On our two stays at ssr we had good locations, on our two stays at blt we were very close to the elevator! Nd at bwv we were given our requested village green room. Here it feels like a TON of walking to get anywhere! We are about half way down one of the far wings and it just feels like a trek - especially last night when I made multiple trips to and from the room - once with a case of water (thanks staples) from bell services, once with stuff from the marketplace, and once with a belt purchased for dh at the yacht club store since dh forgot to bring one. I think that round trip took 30 minutes!
Besides the distances (which again may not be that far but feel like it to us) there's the construction issue. I knew coming into this trip that it's January and things in the park are being worked on. Then it kept piling on and piling on, but we weren't dwelling on it (too much). Then on my walking last night, I noticed a crane/lift thing by SAB. Then another. And another, and another. Yes, 4! Plus walls up all over the place. Portions of the pool are closed and walled off. At first i thought maybe this was the plumbing issue mentioned last week, but later realized it's some trim/painting work being done on the YC. It's really an eyesore and made it even more of a trek for me to find my way to the zero entry part of the pool around all the walls and equipment! Not really the experience I was looking for, and after all my hiking around, ds didn't like the sand on his feet, so we ended up in the little baby wading pool. There were almost no people at the pool, but it's January, and it was warm today but not sweltering, and we didn't get there until 5:30ish - which I imagine explains why they didn't bother having someone checking room keys. I still plan to be prepared when we make it back later in the week.
Then there's the cs. Last night we ate in epcot, but ds and dh went to bed early, so I was making all my trips and wanted a snack. The selection was more limited than I expected. All I really wanted was some fries, but of course that's not possible. I settled for some chips instead. Today we had breakfast there, which was good. Then tonight we had dinner there. We've already had pizza, twice, so I didn't want a flatbread. And I'm not a turkey with Brie and cranberry sauce kind of person. So I got a Caesar salad from the cooler. At this point I was hungry and tired, and so when dh pointed out to me that it was expired, I didn't even care. I should have taken it back - it wasn't good. But I discovered the sliced apples with caramel dip for ds and at $1.95 it was a good little snack.
