LOVE the resort. We checked in yesterday, Nemo suite. It is me, DH, and DS4. We are DVC and on Sunday will be moving over to BCV and then AKV after that but just had to check out this resort for 3 nights. I dont think we will want to leave! At BCV and AKV we will have a studio and here we have a family suite! Currently, DH and DS are sleeping on the foldout-from-the-wall table bed (DS was looking forward to sleeping on the table bed!) and I am relaxing in my own bedroom(Lol) with my own bath as well! The pool is awesome, the theming is GREAT! TONS of GREAT photo opps! We walked around earlier and took tons of pics with all the Nemo and Cars decor.

Yesterday, DS had an allergic reaction after dinner in the food court, he shared with DH a brownie thing that had m&ms & marshmallows in it and apparently had pecans in it as well - he's never had any allergies and has had peanuts and almonds before but never pecans and his face swelled and he began wheezing so they called an ambulance and we spent several hours at the ER with him... the meds worked and we got back at midnight. Not how we planned to spend our first night and we now have to meet with the chefs and ask lots of questions. But the resort handled it well and took care of us quickly. Turner Drugs even delivered us our prescription steroid for him and his new epipen today.

MUCH better day today - Magic Kingdom most of the day, then the resort pool and arcade and pool bar drinks! :cool1:

Overall, awesome resort with awesome decor and photo opps EVERYWHERE. I cannot think of a more "Disney" feeling resort. And it doesnt seeem crowded either (though I know The Little Mermaid section is not open yet).

If anyone has any questions, feel free, Ill try and answer them! Though we will only be here one more night after tonight and then moving to BCV.

I'm sorry your DS had an allergic reaction but glad he's all better now.:goodvibes

I'd love to see some pics. We're doing something similar but only one night AoA. We then move to the THV and then AKV for 5 nights each. I just couldn't resist a night at AoA. It looks fantastic!

Glad your son is getting better! I am allergic to pecans to and found out in a similar way when I was 7. Scary stuff! Hope you all enjoy the rest of your trip!

Sorry about the allergic reaction - my sister is so allergic to pecans that she carries an epi pen. Even touching pecans causes her skin to blister. It is a tough allergy to have because it isn't as common, and pecans are used in so many things.

But glad to hear he's ok, and glad you are enjoying your stay at AoA. We're 281 days away from checking in there :)

Will be there in December! How are the beds? Is the bed in the master a Queen? Do you think there would be room for a twin air mattress in the master? There will be four of us, me(female 59), DS21, DS23 and DS23's girlfriend, and I feel sort funny sharing a bed with my son's girlfriend.

What do you think of the beds... Soft, firm? Especially dh, would he sleep on the table bed all week? Thanks! Glad your ds is ok!!

Sorry about your son. I'm glad you guys made it to the ER in no time. Make sure when you guys get back home to set up an appointment with the Allergy specialist. Find out what other food is he allergic to. We found out that my son is not only allergic to peanuts (and any tree nuts), but any type of seafood, eggs and soy. We also learned that he is allergic to other things.
I'm glad your son is okay now.

I'm glad you're enjoying the resort! It sounds like we have to try this resort even at least for one night, but I just can't justify the cost. Have fun! Take lots of pictures! :)

I can answer this question, as I was there about 10 days ago in a Cars Suite.

Absolutely NO on the air mattress in the master.

To be quite honest, your traveling party makeup is not conducive to the family suites.

The bed in the master is a queen sized, and there is VERY little room to walk around the bed in there, due to the furniture which is not moveable, and the door to the living area (which opens in towards the bedroom and is a huge door).

I would seriously consider renting two regular value rooms for your trip. The family suites feel a lot smaller than they are, and I wouldn't try to put 4 adults in there. We felt cramped with just me, DH, and our two boys 6 and 8.

Actually we were there in June and stayed in the Cars suite and we were able to fit a twin mattress between the bed and the window. It was a tight squeeze but it worked. It would also fit fine between the bed and bathroom, you would just have to put the bed down after you shut the bedroom door.

We had 5 people in the family suite and we felt that it was quite spacious. It was me, my husband, a 2.5 year old, 6 year old and 8 year old.

The bed in the master is a queen, and I have it to myself! LOL DS wants to sleep on the pull down from the wall table bed and wants Daddy to sleep with him, no argument here! LOL. The bed is very comfortable, and DH said the wall bed is comfortable also. We have never even unfolded the couch bed as we dont have a need for it.

There would not really be room for a twin air mattress in the master.

Im going to add though the bus service isnt great - maybe because its not a full resort as one section isnt open at all but we waited 40 minutes for an AK bus this morning (and it wasnt that there were so many people waiting that we had to wait a couple buses to get on one - there was a line but it took 40 minutes from when we entered the line to have a bus for AK show up!) Long waits yesterday too. Seems this problem is not singled out to this resort, relatives staying at Pop said they have had longer waits then usual, and we all visit every year.

Thanks so much for posting!

That's terrible about your son. I'm glad he was taken care of quickly. I have an almost 5 year old with a peanut allergy - it can be really scary. Time to start stashing epi-pens and benadryl everywhere.

I'm wondering how you are handling the food allergy while dining at Disney? Have you felt comfortable? Any restaurant better than another? Thanks so much!

We just left AOA yesterday. Stayed in a cars suite.

I agree that it is not a great set up for mor than 2-3 adults. The couch and table bed were firm but comfortable.

We only waited about 25 minutes for an early bus to animal kingdom one day. The rest of the time, the busses were fine. We did an opt for a cab back after leaving the poly resort late one evening. It was $20 dollars.

All of the restaurants have been wonderful so far - at every restaurant if you note your allergy when making the ressie or tell your server - the chef will come talk to you right away - you tell them what the allergy is and they will tell you everything that is necessary to avoid because it contains the allergen or is prepared with the allergen, and they also tell you everything that MAY have been cross-contaminated - which seems to be a typical problem with bread and bakery items if there is any nut allergy. So far we have eaten at Rainforest, CRT, Crystal Palace, Garden Grill, Cape May, & Hollywood & Vine.

What a horrible way to find out about your son's allergies! Glad it worked out ok. Have a great vacation! I can't wait to be there myself!!
