Sorry if this has been asked before; the search hasn't been working for me lately. Anyway, is the view from astro orbiter worth the wait? It's one of the few rides I haven't been on at WDW, so I fell like I should go on it at some point. I always skipped it because it's just like dumbo only higher.
Thanks in advance!!!

!

Ya know, I thought that too. And then last year I rode it for the first time. My middle DD begged to ride it. I tried to explain that it was like Dumbo but she insisted on riding it. Holy Crap dude, its nothing like Dumbo. Its quite a bit faster and the view rocks! You have to try it at least once!:cool1:

This could have been my reply. All I can say is Ditto. You have to try it once.

I say try it once just to say you did. We did it once about 4 years ago, the cars/rockets were full of water and trash, and we just did not enjoy the experience, although the view was awesome. We can, however, say we did it once!!!

My oldest insists on riding it when we go.

If the line is not too long I would say go for it.

Ride it. The view during the day is outstanding. During the night, it's simply breathtaking! :)

Ok you've convinced me. I'll have to try it the next time I go.
I can just see it now, the ride I've been walking past (under in this case) for the past 15 yrs. will become a favorite :lmao:

I think the view (particularly at night like the pp said) is definitely worth it. I think you should at least try it once. We took some great pictures with the castle in the background.

It does look cool from up there at night, but I wouldn't wait in a long line.

We do it in the morning, right after Buzz and Space Mtn. Otherwise, the line gets reeeeally long. Or, we try to get on at night, when the line is short. As others have said, the views at night are pretty cool.

it's no dumbo:dumbo: We did it once two years ago and it was too much for me..it goes pretty fast:crazy2: and has a tilt to it that made me feel as if i was going to FLY out!! :scared1: I felt so bad for my kids (2 and 5 at the time) cause dumb mommy thought it was a nice kiddieland like dumbo ride. all that said....HAVE FUN!!!!:woohoo:

My 4 year old daughter convinced me to go on this ride- It totally freaked me out! She loved it but me.. not so much. :rotfl:

The view is really cool at night, the only time we have ever ridden Astro Orbiter.
My kids love it, even the 14 year old.

I've been on the one at Disneyland...I really don't like it. Are the views you get at the WDW version really really worth going on a ride that makes me look like this? (not a long-lasting feeling, but it's intense while it lasts!)

I wouldn't say that. The Astro Orbiter at WDW is still up on top of the TTA (PeopleMover) station, so if the one at DL makes you ill, I'm not sure you'd be able to take the WDW version. Especially if you have any fear of heights. :)

My daughter and I think that it is the SCARIEST ride at WDW. Some people think that TOT is an intense ride, but it is tame compared to Astro!!

We think that our rocket ship is really going to fly off into space!!!

The view is great!!

It is a short ride for the wait, even when the wait is short!!!!
:rotfl2:

DW hates this ride but I like it. She won't go on it again, so I guess I'll either be solo or going with some poor sucker who gets to suffer through me making the ship go up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down etc.. :rotfl:

Come to think of it, maybe that's why she hates this ride...

Oh goodness gracious. :scared:

DD 5 loves Astro Orbiter. I'm not a big fan of spinny rides, even with taking bonine/meclazine I get dizzy. During MNSSHP and P&P last year there was no line and nobody waiting to get on. The oh so nice CMs let us ride three trips in a row without getting off. DD thoroughly enjoyed that, me, not so much, LOL. :crazy2:

The view is great from up there though, especially at night.
