astro orbiter for those afraid of heights

Fear is individual. I am terrified of heights. I can't sleep in a hotel room above the third floor and won't have the bed by the window ever. I couldn't go up the excalator at the Cajun Dome. Open staircases scare me. I don't get on the third step of a ladder. I've had 18 jobs, all but one in one story buildings(In college I worked in a four story girl's dorm-some things take precedence). But I love Astro Orbiter. Dumbo and Aladin are fine. I'll strap into any non-wooden roller coaster and love it. Fear makes no sense to anyone but the person that has it. I would suggest going up on the elevator and then deciding-if you can handle that. But never worry about saying to a cm I can't do this. They will get you to where you feel safe. It happened to me in that #*%@ tree.

This thread makes me feel much better about myself. If I am above the third floor of a hotel, then I feel like my blood is draining down to my feet. That's the best way to describe it.I stand at the back wall of glass elevators. Last year we stayed on the 4th floor of POP and I would have to lean on the wall walking to our room which was all the way down to the end of the building. But the reason I like WDW so much is because I can ride all the rides because I cannot tell how high I am. Now I do close my eyes on the initial climb on EE. That being said, I REFUSE to ride Astro Orbiter. :scared1: There is no way. My family can continue to laugh at me but now I know I am not alone.

Dh has been on every ride in WDW - Expedition Everest, Mission Space, TOT, everything - and got sick on Astro Orbiter. I am not kidding.

I hate heights. I can do most rides, however. This ride, I could NOT do. It was too much for me.

Personally, I hate the ride, but I do it from time to time. How do I handle it? I CLOSE MY EYES FOR THE WHOLE RIDE! I start to hyperventilate if I open my eyes. :rotfl2: Then I let the kids control the thing however they want. Can you try that?

My big beef with it now is that it makes me sick. Yuckko. No spinning rides for me anymore, no matter how wimpy they are. I cannot even ride the teacups without spinning them without feeling nauseous. I just think it's because I'm getting older and my inner ear just can't take it anymore. So, I don't go on it anymore.

YUCK!!!! I'm not afraid of heights at all...but we all hated the astro orbiter and would not go on it again:scared1: ..the tilt (you really feel as if you will fly right out)and speed scared all of us and made us all sick!:guilty: I get queasy just looking at it now
