Is it good or bad that I'm coughing up MORE, um, stuff, now that I'm on the Albuterol and Asmanex? I see my dr. again tomorrow. Had chest xray today.

It's not unusual, my DDs do after they have the larger doses of albuterol. The albuterol is helping break up all the crud in the lungs and it has to go somewhere.

Yup, I think it's a good thing, that it's a sign things are clearing up a bit.

Thank you. I was getting worried. My cough sounds like my mom's did when she would fill with fluid.

Rajah, do the kitties affect your asthma? NO WAY are my furbabies going anywhere, but I was wondering how you deal with the dander.

It is good, you are clearing your air passage ways of the thick/sticky stuff that was resticting air flow. The color of the "stuff" is important. Make sure to tell your Dr. what color it is.

Thanks, Kind of beige.

The more stuff you cough up the better. It is better for it to loosen up and come out of your lungs. Be sure and drink lots of fluids. This will also help to thin the mucous out. Coughing to some extreme is actually good to help clear your lungs.

I also would like to say that I have two dogs that are inside/outside pets.
The way I deal with pet hair/dander is I vacum daily. Dogs get bathed once a week. I also use my swifter dust cloth on them a couple of times a day.
This helps to remove pet dander, hair, dirt, and any pollen they have picked up outside. When my son was younger, we were advised to remove the carpet in our home. That lasted for six years. As he became symptom free for long periods, we decided to give carpet a try again. Even his physcian agreed that getting rid of the family pets would do more harm to our son than good. He was allergic to everything so his allergy shot included pet dander as well.
I hope this helps some. Let us know how your appointment goes tomorrow!

I have often used my albuterol inhaler for the sole purpose of making myself be able to cough up that gunk. :thumbsup2 You feel so much better once its gone.

Thank you! We don't have any carpeting, so that's good. In fact, my allergies improved in this house and so did my dog's!

Another trick it to lie on your stomach with a pillow at your hips. Have your DH tap your back for a minute or two. It will seem like nothing is happening. When you stand up you will cough pretty hard and expel lots of junk without medicine.
