asthma meds on plane?

How do I bring the Asthma meds on the plane? Also the nebulizer is that considerd an extra carry on?

My daughter has asthma and a food allergy. I've never had a problem with her meds, however we do not use a nebulizer so I don't know about that.

Even though we have never had a problem, I always go prepared. I have a medication form signed by my dd's allergist; I have the prescription boxes with current rx labels; and I try to always declare her meds. I say try, because usually I am shuffled through security without anyone trying to listen to me. There was only one time I was ever questioned about her meds departing MCO...I saw my bag getting backed up to be scanned again and they looked right at me and asked "needles?" and I replied "epi-pens" and that was that.

You should contact the airline to see if you can use your nebulizer on the flight if needed. Not all medical equipment is approved. Do you have a portable nebulizer? I wouldn't want to depend upon a plug in nebulizer.

We purchased a portable Pari before our flight earlier this year. It's small and portable. I put it in a bag in which I carry medical stuff like epi pens. If you keep medical equipment separate from your regular stuff they don't count it as part of your carry on.

Any medical equipment is in addition to the baggage limits for all airlines. So you can bring the nebulizer as a carry-on item even if you are already at the carry-on limit.

I've found that some airports like my asthma inhalers to be in a separate clear plastic bag (i.e. a different one from any other liquids/gels) and removed from my bag. I haven't been able to come up with a pattern as to which airports want them presented this way, so, I generally just have it ready in my bag and then ask if they want me to take it out.

Don't know anything about the nebulizer, but the meds should not be a problem. DD has to travel with 6 prescription bottles, inhalers, syringes & liter bags of IV fluids. She is 19 and has been traveling a lot lately. The first time she went through security with IV solution and 6 hypodermic needles with saline & heparin I was shocked when no one even questioned her. She had it out of her carry on with the info from her doctor and she was told just to put it back in, no one even bothered to look at it!!!
