Well, after my TA jumped through hoops, probably juggled fire batons and called in MANY favors from DCL, I've secured a spot on the July 9, 2005 West Coast sailing. I'm booked in a Category 6 guarantee, so I'm of course nervous. I've always booked the same stateroom, and I'm afraid I'm going to get a bad room. I know, there are no bad rooms on DCL, but with little ones, I'd really like to avoid a metal veranda and a connecting room. Things I'm afraid I'll end up with. Now, I'm of course secretly hoping for an upgrade to a Cat 1, but I know that's not going to happen!!!! I'm totally happy with the Cat 6, since all I really want is a balcony.... Can someone reassure me we did the right thing, since this was the only way to get on this sailing.

The only potential things to watch out for are the laundry room or a white wall verandah. Other than that, Cat. 6 is pretty safe (and personally I don't mind the white walls).

From some other recent threads, the solid, white walled verandah seems to be the bugaboo of Cat. 6's. I just got a Wonder 1/16/05 upgrade from Cat. 8 GTY to Cat. 5 w/ a solid wall. It won't ruin a thing, though I agree w/ the comment elsewhere that there ought to be a separate, intermediate category for a 6 w/ a solid wall that is between a 6 w/ plexiglass and a 7. I have been in a connecting room and there wasn't a problem.

The GTY is just what it says--you will have a 6 or better. And you nailed it when you said that there are no bad staterooms on DCL. And if you suck it up and assume you will have a solid wall, then would that really spoil something you obviously had to work for, which was to get on the West Coast sailing. And if you luck out and don't get the solid wall, woo hoo! :cool1:

And the best part is getting to look forward to the cruise between now and then.
