We will be staying at BLT the same time as the Annual Association Meeting. Has anyone ever attended one and is it worth stopping by? We're new members and really have nothing to add to the meeting, but I didn't know if they gave away anything to members who attended.

Thanks
Ty

If you will already be there and have a couple of hours available the meetings are worth attending. There is no opportunity for any real input by members, but the process is interesting and informative.

The Board of Directors meeting is at 1:00pm and is a tightly scripted corporate meeting where the voting representatives for the members will vote on the annual dues and any other items on the agenda. That meeting will last no longer than 30 minutes.

Following the BoD meeting will be the Members Meeting where there is usually a video presentation from the Disney Corporation about what is going on corporate-wide followed by comments from Jim Lewis (DVC Pres) about the state of DVC - with likely updates on Ko Olina. the General Manager from each resort will then give a brief overview of what was accomplished at each resort in 2009 and what is planned for the next year. These comments will be followed by an opportunity for comments/questions from those in attendance.

The last few years there have not been any giveaway items and food/drink is no longer provided. Originally, each resort held it's own meeting, but that was changed to one meeting several years ago. I believe that this years meeting will be broadcast to HH and VB (not sure about GCV) for members at those resorts to watch.

If you will be able to attend you can register online on the member's site in advance. In the past they have also allowed walk-up registrations too.

Thank you, I was wondering the same thing!

I went ahead and signed us up. I'm president of two commercial condominiums and just was elected to the board of my Homeowers Association so this meeting should be interesting.

I always found it funny the voting member for the members was never elected by the members. Am I the only one who see's an inherent flaw in that system?

It's all spelled out in the POS and has been that way since the first contract was sold in 1991.

I don't see a flaw at all. Controlled by Disney for the benefit of Disney! :cool1:
