If I added my parents to our DVC as associates, would they be eligible for the DVC pass discounts? What are the benefits/problems with adding a family member as an associate? They always travel with us. Also, they are the executors of our will, so they would have control over our DVC until our kiddos come of age.

Thanks!

Only if they live with you. If not, then no AP discount. And if they lived with you, they'd be eligible for the AP discount regardless of whether or not they were associate members. (I am 99% sure this is correct, and 100% sure that someone will correct me if I'm wrong. ;))

Associate Member info from member website:
An "Associate" is a person named by the Purchaser or Purchasers who is only authorized to make reservations using the Member's Home Resort Vacation Points. Associates do not receive Member Cards and are not entitled to the benefits and privileges that are available to a Member. In addition, Associates may not access financial information related to Annual Dues and/or loan pertaining to the Membership.

As Tara noted, they will only be eligible for the AP discount if they live with you.

I'm an associate member on my mom's account (living in separate cities). Basically, I can view the account, make reservations, add waitlists, bank her points and talk with Member Services.

I am not considered a DVC member as far as discounts, Annual passes, etc.

My recollection is that while I made all the phone calls re: adding days, waitlisting, etc. all the confirmation information for the reservations I made last Christmas were sent to her directly and she had to send them to me.

I'm looking forward to being a member in my own right--we're at the ROFR stage on our own contract but will still be an associate on her account so I can handle her banking, etc.
