We are waiting for the final stages of closure on our resale, but as it is a Dec UY, I don't know if we will be in the system prior to the 4 mos out and we might not be able to use the points to book outside DVC. These are 2008 banked points and need to be used by Dec 1/10. We don't care when in Oct or Nov we go, or really where we stay, we just need a studio but will take a 1 bdrm if needed, but what do you think the chances we will be able to get anything?? Do you have any other ideas on what we can do to use these points at WDW.

I've checked the reports board and see openings, but I'm sure not everyone posts there.

If worse comes to worse and we can't do WDW, do you think we will be able to find something at Vero or Hilton Head??

If you have a 2 month window in which you can be flexible in the dates, you should be able to secure a studio somewhere on property. You may have to split stay (depending on how long you want to go) but I can't believe you won't be able to make something work.

The availability board is really only good to get an idea of what room types have been reported as not available. It is not a good way to determine what is. But, if you see that something is reported as not available, it gives you at least an idea that that room type would be difficult (but not impossible since cancellations happen all the time).

Thanks so much, I also just read that we could possibly do a trade through RCI as that doesn't apply to the 4mos rule either, so you know if that's true??

We booked the week of Thanksgiving last year in Sept - right after our resale contract closed. We had a split stay - 4 nights in a BWV (boardwalk view) 1 bedroom, and then 3 nights SSR 1 bedroom.

you have such a bad time for try for anything

Dec is very, very popular with DVC member - besides it is lovely - Christmas is everywhere. the best time might be after Dec 14 (when the points are lower) until Dec 23 (when the place is packed)

Oct/Nov is the food/wine festavial - then Thanksgiving.

so your best week would be after the f/w but before thanksgiving.

if you have any 2009 points they would also need to be used - unless they were banked to 2010.

now if you get them in Sept -you will still have choices.
