We have 3 dd's I like the idea and price of the asmu family suites. Good price fridge and microwave incuded. Has a seperate sleeping spaces with queen bed. I don't like the fact the only door is through the kids sleeping area. There doesn't seem to be much choice in food and it far from everywhere.

WL we would get no extra tv or microwave but the resort seems to be less isolated and have more meal choices. What are everyone opinions. I can't really afford more then a standard at WL.

I think you'll actually get more food choices at the value than WL. The amount of people staying at values and mods means their food courts are way larger. I've stayed at WL, I LOVE IT. The food area is definately smaller than the mods/values, but there is a lounge and the other pluses are huge.

There is a boat for transportation to MK which is so much fun, also a boat to contemporary for a quick connect to the monorail or the food areas there and the other deluxes on the loop.

The pool is extremely nice with multiple hot tubs and its far less crowded than the mods/values, as all deluxes are. There is a bunkbed option I think at WL, one bunk bed, 1 double.

I don't have kids, so I can't relate to one of the most important things for you and that is the size in the room for a family. I'm fairly sure around the resort there is a lot for the kids to see and you're so close to MK. The geyser is cool by the pool as well. I would say WL is for sure worth it, but you have to evaluate the space requirements you need. There is a balcony in WL rooms but I'm not sure how much of a reprieve that would be.

I'm rambling, but all the extras at the WL I'd probably do it, but only having one room with three kids, heh.....

I concur with EnnEss. Although the room will be a little cramped compared to the ASMu suite, what you gain in travel time and the beauty of the resort itself are well worth the trade-off. The All-Stars are so far away from everything except AK that it's easy to spend a good portion of your day traveling, especially if you park-hop. The boat and bus transportation at WL is very efficient (and scenic, when taking the boat around the lake). And, you just can't beat the WL atmosphere; the renovations are great and the grounds are wonderful.

Also if really needed the food court at WL has microwaves you can use and plates, bowls, plastic ware...everything you would need. You just would have to travel downstairs to use it. We won't stay anywere else though.

DH and I stayed in a Family Suite at All Star Music ( a value resort) in Sept. of 2006.

We really enjoyed the Queen size bed, the kitchenette with the microwave, having a sofa and cushioned chair to sit on and relax after a day at the parks before retiring for the evening.

I thought the pullouts very comfortable.

They are designed so the back cushion and seat cushion of the pullout support the pullout. There is no metal bar to hurt the sleepers back.

Have fun at Disney wherever you choose to stay!:wizard:

I am assuming that one of your DD's is under 3? This would have to be the case for you to fit in the WL room. We stayed at the WL this past Dec. and LOVED it. I would definately stay there if I were you considering that once your youngest DD is over 3 then you would not be able to stay there in one room. It is a great relaxing resort and the transportation to the MK is great. You have the option of the boat or bus. The food court was great and the lobby is amazing. Much more relaxing than the value resort. We have 6 in our family so the WL is out for us now. We did get to experience it this past Dec., but only because we traveled with family and got to put one of our kids in the room with grandma. We stayed standard rooms (AAA rate) and were right above the checkin desks. Great rooms with a nice view over into the lobby. We had rocking chairs right outside our doors to sit and look over into the lobby. The outside balcony view was not great- but we didnt care. We loved having our room open up to that majestic lobby!!!

DD are 2, 4, and 5. The 2 year old won't sleep in the crib but would sleep at the foot of the bottom bunk or on an air mattress. I thinking wl because I can see us spending alot of time at mk.

I am trying to decide between these two types of rooms!

We are only 4 people. The kids are 4 and 6, so any room is OK with us. We are currently holding an all star Movies room but are looking at upgrading to either an all star music suite or WL.

We are renting a car, so we do not need to rely on Disney transportation (but will use it if it's more convenient).

It seems the advantages of the WL is that is a nicer resort with a nicer pool. We are going in January so I don't know how big a deal the pool is. I also like the idea of the balcony.

The advantage of the suite is the size, the kitchen, the second bathroom, and the fact that we can have privacy at night. We don't love that the kids could wake up at night and open the door without us knowing.

The main issue (and probably decision maker) for us is the theming. We are doing this trip solely for the kids (hence the possibility of All Star Sports) and our kids just aren't into music that much. We can give up the Movies theme for the nicer resort and nicer pool (but again its January) for the kids, but not to just get extra room for ourselves.

Of course, every day I find myself obsessing over the advantages of virtually every resort on premises, so I'll probably change my mind 10 times in the next week. I'm hoping to have a definitive game plan when the January codes come out.

If you're mostly at Disney you can definately do without the car to save some money. The resort transportation is good, particularly at deluxes.

The only thing about theming at the Deluxes is its not super Disney. Its really amazing and immersive, but doesn't smack of Disney characters like the values do.

The WL is a true hotel though with interior hallways and such, there will be slightly less walking but the values are pretty compact anyways. I think kids will like all the extra stuff at deluxes but I'm not sure if they'd appreciate it to the degree of how much more it costs (not a slight against kids, i struggle to justify it too ;0)

UPDATE- It didn't even take a week. I called today to change my reservations to the All-Star Suites but they are not available during my stay (end of January).

btw- all it took for us to decide on the need for the extra room was our kids jumping into our bed at 6AM this morning!

If the food court is important to you, do not stay at WL! The All Star food courts are great, whereas the WL one is tiny, very little choice of food and very cramped seating area. Rude staff too.
