ASMo Question

Hi All,
I'm new to this so bear with me. I hope I do this right. :)

I'm a huge Disney fan and have actually been reading these boards for quite a long time...just never posted anything. I guess you could call me a
lurker?

Anyhow, my family and I (me37, DH38, DS4 1/2, DD3 and Inlaws) are going to
ASMo 9/21-29. I'm very excited about this trip though this is the
first time I've ever stayed at a Value Resort. We picked ASMo for the
kids...and the budget since we were just there in Oct 06 (POFQ).
I'm wondering, does anyone know when ASMo was renovated last? I've
been hearing a lot of mixed reviews about dirty rooms, threadbare bedding and yucky bathrooms. So now I'm getting nervous that I've gone w/the wrong place. Any insight or opinions from someone who's stayed there recently would we wonderful and very much appreciated.
Thanks!!!:dance3:
PS--I hope this is not a repetitive question (recently been discussed).
My apologies if it is.

Disney's All Star Movies has never had a full room renovation since opening. Most rooms have the same carpet, furniture, and decor since opening day. Bedding is changed on a regular basis, but only by rotation (of course after a cleaning). My point is... if you look at a picture of the room from 90s and a picture from today, you won't be able to tell a difference.

All Star Music under went a full resort renovation (including carpet, decor, and furniture) earlier this year and All Star Sports is next on the list. There is no word yet on when, or if ever, ASmo will recieve a renovation.

We had a nice time at All Star Movies. We found the resort to be very clean and well taken care of. (Although, the bathroom decor can make one very dizzy! LOL) I don't think it's been refurbed lately, but it is the newest of the Value Resorts.

I was warned too about the Values and I have never once had a problem. I've stayed at Movies once and Pop Century 4 times. I love the value resorts!

We stayed there Sept of last year. I would not stay at a Value again. Depending on how many you have in your room. The rooms are very small. Our floor was wet the whole entire time we were there for some reason. Just in one area, I mean really wet. Housekeeping was not great at all. The stand were the tv was looked very old and it looked like someone colored on it with a crayon or something. Not much space to store things. I mean it didnt ruin my vacation, but I would not stay at a value again, mostly because of how small the room was.

I don't think someone's one-time personal experience should make people shun all values all the time ?

But that aside, I haven't stayed at the Movies since 2001---we loved our stay that trip, but true, if there's been no renovations since opening, I can't speak for how the rooms are now.

Maybe go with POP, which is a newer value resort ? The themeing is cute here as well. My suggestion though, especially with little ones, is to spring for the "preferred" rooms. A good amount of the "standard" rooms are a hike from the main lobby/bus stop/food court. Nothing at all different between standard and preferred except for the proximity to the food court/lobby.

We stayed at All Star Movies Sept 2006. The room itself was fine...we did not notice any thread bare carpets or worn bedding, etc. We were in a preferred section, but I'm not sure I'd pay extra for that again...we walked around the resort several times and it did not seem all that much further to the rooms that were not considered preferred.

That being said, we did think the rooms were a bit smaller and for an extended stay, we will not likely stay at any value resort again (we have also stayed at Pop in the past). In general, the buses seem more crowded, the bus stops at the parks seem to be further from the gates than the moderate and deluxe resorts and the pool areas aren't as nice. (Our DD 5 & DD 3 didn't seem to notice the difference between value and moderate or deluxe resorts.)

I am glad we tried both the pop and all star resorts and do not regret saving that bit of money, but likely won't decide to do that again.

We stayed at All Star Movies in January. We had a great time and our room was really clean. Mousekeeping did a fantastic job! (and I am super picky ;) )
We were in the Toy Story section (preferred) & thought the decor was really fun. I didn't see anything that was in dire need of replacement or fixing up.

Hi there!!

We've stayed at Pop twice and will be staying at ASMu in late August. From the pics I've seen of the newly refurbished rooms at ASMU, I have to say that I like the looks of them AND the outside of the resort waaay more than Pop. Personally, I find the HUGE words plastered all over the bldgs. at Pop nauseating!! :headache:

Just saying that if you like the theming of the ASMo, why not book a brand new room at ASMu and enjoy the theming of all 3 All Star resorts? :thumbsup2

I stayed at ASMO last August. I had requested the Toy Story section. When we first checked in they said there was no Toy Story available. They gave us a room in the Mighty Ducks section. The room had peeling paint and holes in the walls. I went back to checkin about 15min later and asked to be moved. I was given a room in Toy Story-one suddenly was available:scared1: and it was perfect. We enjoyed everything about the resort from then on. The icons, pool and food court were great and we never shared buses. If you are not happy with the room when you check in just ask to be moved. I think you will have a good time.:thumbsup2

We stayed at ASMo in Jan of 06. We loved it. The room was very clean, as were the grounds. We were at ASSp a couple of weeks ago.I was very worried, because I read several bad reviews before we left. Turns out I shouldn't have worried. We were just as happy with ASSp as with ASMo. We love the values. Of course, if we win the lottery we do plan on booking a week at the Poly, but who wouldn't.

I will be staying at the ASMo in a couple weeks! We are excited and I dont really even care if the room is small or the carpet a bit faded.. the kids want to see large Dalmatians and Buzz Lightyear and things like that!

As long as there aren't creepy-crawlies, I think we'll be fine. I'm not expecting the Ritz this time, the whole vacation is kid-driven ( excpet for the one ADR at Le Cellier he hee) so naturally, I let them choose the hotel. :goodvibes :goodvibes

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for all your input and suggestions. :)
Unfortunately, Pop is booked for our dates, so
that's not an option. So it looks as if we're going to
be sticking w/ASMo. Though, I might switch to ASMu.
(I can never make up my mind. Hee-hee! :rotfl: )
Regardelsss, I'm sure it'll be okay, and it was great
to hear from those that have been recently and enjoyed their stay!!!
Plus, since I just found out we're going back in June '08 and
staying at Poly, it makes this trip at a Value a bit easier to
accept! :dance3:

If youre anything like us you wont spend much time in your room anyway - its a place to sleep + shower and then were back out on the run.

We did ASMO in 05' & 06' - the rooms were exactly as we had expected "value" based. Pay $ to sleep and shower or pay $$$$ to sleep and shower ... its nice to treat yourself once in a while, but its wiser to understand your priorities.

We stayed at All Star Movies last June 2006, Toy Story section, Woody building. We had a room that had been very recently re-done. New carpet, bedspreads, everything was perfect and seemed brand-new. There were a few trucks in the parking lot full of mattresses while we were there. I know that was a year ago but I hope it reassures you that some rooms have had updates. All Star Movies is a lot of fun! I've only gotten a horrible room once at All Star Music in 1999. It was for 1 night and there were no other rooms available on property, so we stayed put. I followed up after with a letter, and we've been back to All Star Music again and had nice rooms. If you get an unacceptable room ask for another one!

We just returned yesterday from ASMO. Our stay was wonderful. There were some stains on the floors but, otherwise the room was well kept.

i really think that you will have a good time. we have stayed at movies and music numerous times. we have had 2 pre teens, all our luggage, etc. and we had plenty of room. but basically we really are not in our room much. but we used the bureaus, and they kept some stuff in their suitcases on the floor. we have also stayed in the suite. very nice. we have had great luck and alot of fun at the all stars. any problems, which we had a few little ones, just go to the front desk and they will help. would you rather be at disney or home.................haha
