Other than being nice, polite, etc., does anyone have advice for asking for a late checkout? We have an evening flight the day we leave and depending on weather and how tired we are, we may just like to hang out at the pool, but I'd like to shower before leaving for the airport. How do the resorts determine if they will allow a late checkout? How far ahead do you think I should request it? Thanks for any help from those of you with experience with this. :flower:

Do a search. Someone asked this question recently. Someone stated that you can stay until 1:00 p.m. (if they are not overly booked) for free. If you wish to stay later, it costs more money. I plan to ask for a late checkout the day we plan to checkout.

It will all depend on how late and how booked they are.

When we went in December we requested late check out, but they were booked. They were very nice about it, but said they couldn't give us a late check out. We sort of dilly dallied though and they didn't call until 12:30 about the room. We were all packed and everything and actually waiting for the bellman to come get our suitcases.

You can ask at check in, but I bet they really won't know if they can do it until the day you leave. Call 1st thing that morning.

I think that you have to wait until your check out day, call early that morning. I think that "late" check out ends at 1PM, they start charging after that. The pool restrooms have showers and changing rooms there for that purpose, we have never used them though. I doubt that Disney would lt you stay pst 1PM without some part of one nights room fee being paid. I'd call the resort direct, if possible, ahead of time and just ask nicely what their policy is. I just know we ahve never been able to extend our check out, even during slow periods. They deactivate your room keys at "check out time".

When I went in July we requested a late check out when we were checking in, and they said it was fine. We had no problems at all.

I actually did a late check out a Poly in November (week before Thanksgiving) about two years ago, as we went for early entry at Animal Kingdom then came back to the hotel, napped and went out and caught the flight back home in the late afternoon.

I have asked for late check out at Disney atleast two or three times at different times of the year, and never had a problem getting it, of course its not a definite, and usually they tell me to call the morning of.

Not sure if it will help us or not when the time comes but our TA had it added to our reservation when it was booked that we would like a late checkout. I know it's not guaranteed but I liked the fact that it was in writing 90+ days out that we were requesting it. It is printed on our paperwork from DW that we requested it too. Lets hope we will be able to push that time up to the 1pm as we will be driving back and I would love to be able to sleep in on the last day!

I've never been able to get a late checkout past 1:00pm.

I did once get a late check out at the BWV, but that was due to a bit of an emergency. Just as we were getting ready to leave, my niece got sick all over my husband. It was so bad he had to shower and she needed a bath, and their clothes had to be laundered. The doctor had been to the room for her the night before, so the front desk knew we had a sick baby. They gave us until about 2:00. We had a 2 BR and had to get out of the lockout, but were able to stay in the other part. But that was extenuating circumstances as opposed to convenience.

Thanks for the replies. Actually 1 pm would be great. Our flight is at 6:15, so from what I've read we have to be ready for the ME 3 hours prior. We could do quick showers b/w 12 and 1 and be out. That would give us an hour to eat some lunch and then take some time to souvenir shop. We're staying at Pop.
