Hiya All
Sorry i have asked this question before and thought i had saved replies but can't find them.
This is the first time i am travelling with my little one and this is my major panic(he is 18months old) and i want to take his car seat with us, we are travelling with virgin from Manchester
What do i do with it? do i bag it up in a couple of heavy duty bin bags or would i be better putting it in a holdall?
Also do they take it off me at check in?
Also am i allowed to take my pushchair all the way to the gate?
Many Thanks for your help, also any other info would be gratefully recieved
We are staying in a villa, and it was going to cost $9 a day to rent a highchair and travelcot, would i be better picking one up from walmart?
Many Thanks
Ali

It woudl definitely be cheaper to buy a highchair from walmart. not sure how much a travel cot would be. Look on the website. If it's cheaper than the $9 a day then get one. :)

I would ring Virgin about carrying your carseat. I'm pretty sure it doesn't count towards your luggage allowance, aswell as the pushchair. If you've paid for a seat for him, he should be able to sit in it on the plane. If not, I think you just hand it in when you check in your luggage and he'll have to sit on your lap.

Just take your carseat to check-in with you and Virgin will supply you with a clear bag that you put your car seat in and then you just drop it off at oversized luggage check-in (right next to Virgin check-in at Manchester).
You can take your pushchair to the gate with you and about 20 minutes before boarding they will take it on the plane for you.

Once at Orlando airport your car-seat & buggy may appear on the baggage carousel, but if not it is usually with all the other oversize luggage just across from the baggage carousels.

Thanks Mick
That is exactly what i needed to know i have been panicking about that for months, Have you heard of a baby meal? if so what was in it, i have ordered kids meals for my nephews 5 and 8 year old who are travelling with us, but they also offered me a baby meal for my son, i haven't heard of those before, just wondered if anyone knew what was in one

baby meal is normally jar foods. Better off bringing your own selection of what he likes, maybe sandwiches, fruit, cereal (they will provide you with milk etc). At least you know he's got food he'll eat and like.

We travelled with Delta at Christmas to Orlando and they allowed us to check in our travel cot we use at home as a free item, along with the car seat. Virgin Atlantic also state on their website that they will carry a car seat, bassinet (cot) and stroller free of charge so if you've got one at home it might be worth considering taking that instead of paying to hire one in the villa. We're flying to LA with Virgin in May with our 10 month old and will be taking our travel cot with us again.

Sarah :)

That sounds ideal, we have one that folds up into a nice bag and ds is happy sleeping in it, i might phone virgin and check that i can take both car seat and travel cot.
Many Thanks
Ali
