Aside from BCV & BWV, Which DVC Resorts Have Best/Shortest Transportation To Epcot?

Wonder if OKW and VWL are equal when it comes to frequency and distance for bus transport directly to Epcot? Thanks.

OKW is quite a bit closer to EPCOT than VWL. I think VWL shares bus service to EPCOT with one or more of the other MK resorts, so I say OKW has the edge.

Best wishes -

I was surprised to see in my PassPorter that Epcot is less than 10 minutes direct bus ride from OKW or SSR.

We were able to watch Illuminations (the High Fireworks) from our patio at SSR in December so It is very close and I was also surprised at how quickly we arrived at MGM by direct bus from SSR.

Yes, the OKW and SSR busses make internal stops, but once they leave the resort, they travel directly to the parks.

Thanks. I didn't realize OKW is much closer than VWL -- my map is a bit skewed. I'd like to return to the resort mid-afternoon so my baby can nap, hang out at the resort, then after putting baby to sleep returning to Epcot with my mom to watch Illuminations. But I don't want to wait an hour to return to the resort after that. (Hence I really want BCV.) Since I'm planning such a short trip, we'll likely just visit one park, and Epcot is it. I recall reading posts about how much of a pain bus transport is from Epcot to OKW at night (particularly after fireworks) -- do they use fewer buses in the evenings? Do folks encounter the same problem (with fewer buses or greater wait times) returning to OKW from MK in the evenings post-fireworks as well?

One of my big issues with OKW and Epcot is everytime - and I mean everytime - we have had bus problems. Having to wait for a second bus, buses not coming etc etc. I don't recall having the same problems from the MK - it always seems to be from Epcot

So, you have to walk to the buses from the WS with the crowds, then wait -and sometimes wait quite a while - then ride to OKW, then walk to your building. I think that can definately take up to an hour and is definately much longer than staying at BWV or BCV.

Well, OKW used to be listed as an Epcot area resort, before the Boardwalk was built. THIS aerial photo shows how OKW is just across the multi lane road from Epcot. The bus takes less tha 10 minutes from the time it leaves the resort until it arrives. I believe Katheena is talking about buses leaving the park AFTER Illuminations. We have always had good bus service. If you happen to just miss a bus, another comes along in just a few minutes at closing time. We do tend to walk fast and probably know all the shortcuts to get out, so maybe we are not a fair judge of that. Even on New Years Eve 1999/2000 we waited less than 10 minutes for a bus back. Of course the end of day/end of show buses are packed to the rafters, but that's to be expected.

Yikes!

In 2001/2002 we did NYE at Epcot, stayed for all the fireworks shows, walked from Japan all the way through the park and out to the bus area after the midnight show, got in line for the OKW bus, waited through two buses before us, and were still back in our room at OKW by 12:45 pm even with traffic, etc. There is a back way out of Epcot to OKW that the drivers use when it gets crowded (like NYE) and we avoided all of the other traffic. It was 5-7 minutes tops from the time the bus left till we were at OKW.

Bear in mind that the longest parts of your trip home from the parks will be walking out of the park to the bus stop, waiting for a bus to arrive and then loading the bus. The actual time the bus spends 'on the road' is insignificant by comparison.

Does it matter much if it takes you 50 minutes from the door of your room to the turnstiles at epcot instead of 45 minutes?

I would choose the resort you like best, rather than the distance from epcot.
