ashlee simpson the liar

If I were part of the band, I'd be seriously ticked.

You lip synched (or tried to) on a LIVE show that is known for LIVE talent. You blame your band for the fact that you don't know what to do when you're outed. So what to do? Make it the band's fault.

The band members were all smirking after she ran off, and they played LIVE and well.

The bear skits were lame, but they had to fill the time with something.

WOW, just watched the video, but the comps here at school won't play audio. I saw the dancing... and it was atrocious. Worse than Elaine, looked like Riverdance on crack. How pathetic of her to blame others, she is a scam and anyone who has wasted their $ on her CDs should feel ripped off. Yes, Pieces of Me is a good song, but she can't sing, she lied about lip syching, and really needs to go back to just acting. This whole punk image she portrays now is fake as well, she was a blonde who was as preppy as her sister, but the trend is not bubble gum pop right now so she dressed punk for the moment. Everything about her is fake. And this comes from someone who is an admitted fan of N Sync and other boy bands.

I found this whole spectacle completely hilarious. I was elated to see another lip-synching wanna-be singer exposed for what they really are. If you can't sing it live, then, honey, find another job. Being the blood relative of a singer does not make you a celebrity, no matter how hard you and your daddy try.

I'm not sure she was going to lip-sync the entire song. I think it was a commonly used backing track with the first few lines recorded to help her start. That said she still sucks and was unprofessional. If you can't find the correct key and know when to start without help then you probablly shouldn't be up there. She's young and inexperienced so I tend to cut her a little slack.

BUT

She should have just went with it and done the best she could have. I agree that the band tried to cover by switching songs to match the vocal track and if I were in her bad I'd be REALLY angry that she blamed me. She should have been able to just sing Pieces of Me again like nothing was wrong.

Rememebr Areosmith at the Oscars (?) a few years ago with the Armegeddon song. There was clearly something wrong when they started preforming but they went with it and it turned out fine. Shows talent, professionalism and experience none of which Ashlee Simpson has.

I find it kinda sad that "the industry" throws these kids out there before they have paid their dues so to speak. They are just used to make a quick buck until the next best thing comes along. For artists it's not really that easy to make boat loads of money off an album since the label recoups all it's costs before you see a cent, it's the tours and appearences where they really rake it in. Since Ashlee can't seem to handle that, I have a feeling she won't be around too much longer.

I agree that part of the blame is the "industry" promoting someone before they are ready. (But the "artist" takes a HUGE amount of the blame for going along with it for the $$$.)

DH sings classical music professionally and one time I heard him consoling a college aged soprano after she had messed up on one of the "Messiah" arias. He told her that she had done great because she kept going and finished the aria nicely... he told her that mistakes will ALWAYS happen and it's how you come back from/react to the mistakes that is important/ the sign of a good artist.

One time in high school youth choir we were singing some musical with a recorded tape. In the middle of some guy's solo, the tape broke...the guy with the solo happened to be a great pianist...so HE went to the piano and started playing for us, and his best friend finished the solo...this all happend in about 30 seconds. These were two 17 year old high school guys and a church youth choir director...they managed to improvise without missing a beat....but "professional" musicians like Ashlee and her band can't???

It's a possibility that the song being pumped into Ashlee's earphone monitors was the correct song, but the song being sent to the bands' monitors, and the house speakers was the previous song, that they already played.

If that was the case, they should have all pulled their monitors, and winged the correct song live.

Both the ebaumsworld link and the original video are simply hilarious.

I certainly hope this kills her career. How embarrassing. ANd then blaming the BAND? ROFLMAO!

This surprises us...how? Without the help of the studio, these kids have no talent.

I've been to plenty of TV shows where the artist has performed live, with prerecorded backing tracks, or with a live band.

What a mess...that dancing! :earseek:

Well, it was common on shows like American Bandstand. But, there's a reason it's called Saturday Night LIVE

First off, I want to say that I think this girl has no acting/singing talent and, like many other young singers in recent years, she is trying to "cash in" using the last name (think Carter, Spears, Duff...............) After a summer of my DD watching her show on MTV (and cringing through most of it!), I think I am qualified to say this.

With that being said, I THINK I might know what happened. I watched Good Morning America this morning and they were discussing this. From what they said, they (whoever pumps in the music) was supposed to play a different song...she was expecting something else (whatever her latest single is). Maybe this is what threw her off. Strikes me odd that the band knew what song was coming though.

I am not stunned by the fact, nor do I care, that she lip synced her song. Heck, I took my kids to a Radio Disney live concert and the A-Teens were there....they lipped the LIVE concert!!!!:earseek: (we were in the front row so I can confirm this!) I don't think any of us should judge til we put ourselves out there and try and sing live in front of an audience. Not my cup of tea!!

In a strange way, this may help her career. Any publicity is good publicity.
True; I'd never even HEARD of Ashlee prior to this debacle. Now she's the talk of the household!:)

A true professional would've handled that whole situation differently; she handled it like an American Idol wannabe-with equally bad dancing! If she's got REAL talent she'll recuperate...I'll watch with some interest now.

Very true!

But the choir wasn't lip syncing the words, were they? Having music pumped in is one thing. Pretending to sing on a LIVE SHOW is another.

You mean by actually singing the song in your non-studio enhanced voice?

Guess we won't be seeing her on MTV Unplugged anytime soon. :smooth:

I like her voice (ashlee). I like her sister's voice also (jessica). However, I usualy close my eyes or walk away from the room to enjoy the music.

These girls are soo plastic. (materialistic for those of you from this generation)
