No I4 closures on the news so after breakfast (and a run in with a follow the flag yellow person) we headed to Cypress gardens. We have never been to cypress gardens before so this was a new trip for us.

40 min drive to Winter Haven, passing lots of nice looking orange trees. We were tempted to stop and pick some but after my near miss with the sheriff the other night, we decided against it - lol!!

We arrived just before 10 and we were the 10th car on the parking lot!!! We walked to the main entrance to buy our tickets. Their systems weren't working so we couldn't pay on our card and had to use what cash we had brought to get in. The part of the park where the rides were didn't open until 11 so we walked around the animal bit. Its not Busch or Seaworld but it was OK and we had the park to ourselves!!!

Walked over to the water ski show which was OK but a bit corny. DH liked it though.

After this there was an ice show which was a tribute to the 60's. We walked into the building expecting to see an ice rink but it was just a stage with some ice on it. I thought this show was really dated and I was cringing in parts.

After the show, we headed to the part of the park where the rides were and no lie, we were the only ones there. The ride attendants were just stood around with nothing to do. We rode everything on our own and most things that we liked, they just let us stay on and re-ride. Now the rides here are not like Busch or Islands, none of the roller-coasters go upside down and there are a lot of fair type rides. It would be a good place for a coaster newbie to start or for say 6-12 years olds.

We watched a bit of a cowboy show whilst we grabbed a burger and then had a nice stroll around the botanical gardens. This really is a beautiful place and so so quiet. The only problem was when walking round the gardens you are met with signs of 'warning alligators - do not feed, approach, etc'. So to be honest I couldn't relax, I was on alligator watch!!!!!

It was a nice day, no hustle and bustle and it felt like we had the park to ourselves but for me the jury is still out. Some parts are really run down and out dated and is need of some TLC. I really can not understand how the park makes money with the amount of people we saw there today.

We headed back to the hotel to chill a bit and DH wanted to catch the end of the Man City game (come on City - 1-0 will do!!). Neither of us are hungry at the moment, so we are going to carry on chilling and then head over to Bahama Breeze for some (you guessed it) Bahamaritas. DH is making me catch up on my reports to keep me awake - lol!!!!

Another lovely day, I know what you mean about those alligator warning signs,I made Dh do this walk in record time:goodvibes

I have never been to Cypress Gardens so it was really nice to read your thoughts on it. The rides sound just about at my level!
