I do understand, either way you get checked in. I have to admit, though, I much prefer checking in upstairs. I like the comfy chairs, getting my itinerary, any questions answered, and feeling like I'm "home". It's a lovely way to start our stay. It seems to be quicker, but that probably depends on arrival times.

I am careful to note our estimated arrival time on the CL info sheets I fax back.

Disney may need to adjust using only one online check in line. It does clog up the desk, and I've seen it at both WL and AKL. (Both of these stays were non-CL.) They do try to stream the onliners into the regular line, but it's still not efficient when it's busy, IMO.

For CL stays, it seems lots of people who do online still are checked in upstairs, anyway. So whether online or regular, you're on vacation, and that's what really matters.

This is such a great attitude to have gwynne.

Mousemommy I was checked in upstairs in the lounge at all 4 CL stays. The CL CMs just had my packet there waiting for me.

I suppose it is always possible for things to go a different way for a different guest depending on the circumstances at the time. For me, although I much prefer checking in upstairs, if I got stuck downstairs it sure wouldn't ruin my vacation! Checking in early just builds the excitement for me! It feels like I am one step closer. :goodvibes

Good Mornin', RCers!

Sunny here today and a high of 87, I think...more rain due, but that's summer in the South...rain, heat, humidity and then it repeats. :rotfl: Definitely miss Boston summers...do not miss the winters though...although the excitement of the big snow storm would be fun again.

Have a great day...and glad so many saved some $$ with SW yesterday!

:grouphug:

p.s. i heart the mouse.... just read your TR - excellent! Thanks so much for taking the time to share your experiences...and congrats on the fabulous upgrades!

Good morning everyone :wave2:, yes gwynne the silly similies keep moving!

Busy day here, we leave early tomorrow morning for San Francisco. :cutie:

I heart the mouse, I read your TR last night. Thank you for writing it, nice job! Those of us who love the GF were happy to hear you loved it also. :lovestruc We were upgraded to the RPC once, it was magical! Your descriptions and comparisons were interesting. So sorry to hear about the CR CM. The thing that is a shame is one rude CM can sour you on a resort. I was in shock to hear they came back and rudely offered you $100. I hope they find a new career that doesn't involve dealing with people!

The rain has finally ended here, a bit cloudy and windy, but at least not wet. I got a new car a few weeks ago, that's why it keeps raining in NJ :rotfl2:

Now...staying CL this trip, I am leaning towards still doing on-line check in. IPO has said that on-line check in won't have an effect on my requests (my only request is a refurbed room, which is pretty much guaranteed b/c during my stay only the refurbed CL rooms will be open) but others are telling me...well, then you'll have to check in at the front desk, vs. upstairs...I'm kind of like "soooooooooooooo"....that's what the front desk is for. I'm definitely not a high maintenance person, and where I check in doesn't matter to me...I wouldn't care if I didn't have to talk to a single person upon check in, I just want my room!!! I guess it's all a matter of preference and what you want out of your check in experience??? :confused3

Two years ago, Poly IPO told me NOT to do online check-in....this year, Don from AKL tells me to do it. So...I did. He assured me that we would still be taken up stairs to actually get everything. We'll see. Will certainly let you know:thumbsup2

Mornin' RCers,

Heather, your photos are just beautiful. Thanks!

What's the deal with moving our smilies?? Think I'll use one of my favorite ones right here just for fun! : :beach: Makes me feel that much closer to sitting on a swing, enjoying crescent lake.

Thanks:goodvibes The whole smilies thing just throws me...now I have to 'relearn' their locations...silly, isn't it;)

Good Morning Christine:wave2: Hot here today, too. Suppose to have afternoon showers AGAIN. I've got to get to the pool before they start.

Happy travels to San Fran!:goodvibes I hope y'all have a wonderful time. Love that city!! It has some gorgeous views! Anything fun and adventurous planned?

Good morning to all. :goodvibes

Well....the CRUISE DOCUMENTS have finally arrived...I can now cruise!:dance3:

Yeah!

:rotfl2: If I were this discpliined it would make my life SO much easier .... MPC, I'm very disorganized and make NO packing list!! (where did you get those great cubes again??

Good ol' Rick Steves peddles his packing cube wares on Amazon. Amazon, another serious addiction of mine... along with the packing cubes and those pesky food and drink threads. ;)

Stoned in Chicagoland? Never!!:rolleyes1 But, for your safety as my RC family member, I PROMISE never to mention this to any of my cousins!:rotfl2: (I am Chicago born...but the black sheep of the family having lived in Boston for 39 yrs and the Red Sox being my home team.:confused3:rotfl:)

Thank you for saving my skin and not mentioning this. I'm afraid I can't talk baseball either -- though only because having grown up with our local team being the Orioles -- I never really caught the bug for obvious reasons. :rotfl: It's official, you're an east coaster. :thumbsup2 Did those 39 years manage to impart the Bostonian accent on you?

Missoutandabout,
I'm waving hi to a neighbor. Western Michigan isn't all that far from Chicago.
I'm not a big fan of deep dish pizza, either. I agree on the NY style.:thumbsup2

Waving back atcha. :wave2: We'll keep the pizza thing our secret. :lmao: I love Michigan. It's sad though we've never made it up along the west coast! I might have to pester you for recommendations for places to visit. (Because of my hubster's work, we've always either gone into Detroit proper or East Lansing.) We've talked about heading over for a long weekend one of these summers. If only Disney would stop interfering...

.... Holy cow - we might be going to Disneyland!

This sounds like an excellent plan!

We made this picture last year when we were resort hoping...this is when DH decided that we MUST stay at AKL...I secretly decided that we MUST try CL;)

Oh Heather, you temptress you! I've had this recurring thought of staying over in AKL-CL after reading the loads of great reviews. Hmmm. :scratchin Maybe January might have to be a mini-split.

... I am planning a surprise 40th b-day party for DH on Friday night, and need to get on that! It is amazing how caught up in our trips! Hope everyone has a good day!

Happy Birthday to him! Have fun planning. :goodvibes

There is a interesting discussion on the BC/YC thread about online vs regular check in. :thumbsup2

Yeah, I just read Teena's comment -- makes sense logistically to not bother when it's a busy time. I'm thinking I'll do the online check-in for our September trip but only for the first bit since it's only two nights at POR and we arrive late the first night.

You're right! I'm glad I'm not going crazy. My smilies move every time I log in. :confused3

Ah, I woke up with a migraine but just replying to you lot, thinking about Disney and drinking my coffee has started to help... :rotfl2:

Good Morning RC'rs!!!! :wave2:

It's Hump Day! Halfway through the week :cool1:

Looks like everyone had an awesome airfare day yesterday!!! I know I was psyched with our score. :goodvibes

And we've got a few DL planners, grumpy grandma and basket Lacey???
I was talking to my mom about wanting to take the family to DL the other day, she told me to stick with WDW since she thinks I'll be disappointed because its "just a land", not "a world". :rotfl2: thanks for looking out for me mom! I think DL is still going to be in the future plan. I want my girls to see the pacific ocean, and we want to do the San Diego zoo, etc....DL will just be part of our CA swing....in a few years.

Well, it's super rainy here again. :crazy2: Makes me want to be at Disney even more!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!

My mom, sister and I did something similar back in 2007. Since my brothers and dad were in Texas for a bowling tournament, my mom decided to take us to California. We started up at the top with the Charles Schultz Museum, went down to San Francisco and went to Pier 39, Fisherman's Warf and Ghiradelli Square, drove Route 1 and did some other stuff, we went to San Jose and went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium we went to Hollywood and saw the Chinese Theater and went to lunch with one of my dad's grade school friends and eventually made it to Disneyland for the last leg of the trip. It was so much fun! I loved everything about Disneyland! It's not as big as Disney World, but it was so much fun. :goodvibes

HAHAHA! I love it .... the Dessert Party made you change resorts!!! You are the Queen!!!
:rotfl:
I'm just curious.. How often did you guys change your resort before you made the final decision before heading out to that resort? Has anyone changed their resort right before leaving to Disney?
Thanks for stopping in! Welcome home! :rotfl:I can't even answer how many...last year I lost track, but a CM was kind enough to count...he was cracking up and said he wanted to see because it had to be a Disney record..I was in the high 40s...our sheila said I could go up to 52..I KNOW I hit 100 for my most recent trip....I'm a mess...:scared: I changed the night before last year...and onsite at universal midstay

You are in the right place!! These ladies are the best and know their stuff!
You are one of us you know :flower3:

That's cute. My DH calls you guys "My virtual friends." But, as soon as I got my first text from Jeanette, I had proof you guys existed and now he knows I'm NOT the craziest resort changer - not even close.
:goodvibes

Not me!!! I'd never do anything like that!!! I do remember Oct/Nov 2010 that after I was there I added on so many days, so many different times that my family was sure that I'd just moved there and got a job!!!
:lmao:
This is something I would do too ...only NOT to AS Music. How about a nice MK Resort for the Dessert Party? Wouldn't that make more sense? Nice and close...easy to get back and forth.
(p.s. Did I read you and HRH are now at RPC in Sept? Boy, you must REALLY want me to come too!!:rotfl2:)
[/COLOR]

(p.s. Speaking of the Dessert Party... GG's ticker says we are 6 mos & 27 days until our Jan trip!! Do we have a resort?
I am attempting a cheap August trip.....attempting....:scratchin

Yep RPC on a BB, cheaper than Poly CL with late summer rate. Speaking of HRH..she came home yesterday saying she wanted to stay at the Poly :rolleyes2 Here's a first for me...instead of calling CRO...I asked her why.. She said she didn't want a big building in her way of her seeing the castle. So she wanted the Poly lounge......when I explained we can see the castle from RPC since it is high in the air, she was OK. Mind you the real conversation took 45min :rotfl: We are at RPC in Sept.

No resort yet for Jan...:scratchin

pas, I am confused. Is the dessert party in August or September Have never gone, but it looks amazing!

We are leaving Thursday AM for CA. I got my mani/pedi today...however I haven't started packing. I think I caught the packing at the last minute bug that I know at least pas has!
PACKcrastinating....

August 11th Dessert party...want to laugh...it's DH &Is anniversary...we were married twice...yep I divorced and remarried the same fella..I was young, impulsive, stupid....anyway....how perfect. I forgot the anniversary...we celebrate our original never this one :)

Safe travels!!!!!!!Enjoy your brilliant DDs graduation! :lovestruc
Apparently, this is one of those amazingly AWESOME days. DH got word today that he has been chosen to be honored as a "Hometown Hero" at Fenway Park before the Red Sox game!!!! My family got tickets to the game and the recognition takes place ON THE FIELD with the players!!! we all get to be out there!!! You have no idea what big Red Sox fans we are and we're gonna be on the field with them!!! 6/26 game, if you're able to catch it on TV!!!
That is fantastic!!!!!!!!:cool1:

Well....the CRUISE DOCUMENTS have finally arrived...I can now cruise! Was a little concerned, seeing that I leave in 8 days.
:cool1::cool1::cool1: Sorry you have to leave without DH..but only 1 night right???? That AKL pic...beautiful...love the flamingo pond

Pas .... Magic, Kook & I willl hopefully meet up on Sunday and we will drink a toast to you for your B-day ..... only problem is you are missing!! Can chance you can make a DC to your most recent RC??
My summer schedule stinks, I committed to work so many summer weekends...and then getting my MIL to babysit..scared to DC...:scared:

Pas, MM, Magic, Kook, GG, Jenny, Iheart, Luv, Disdreamin, and the rest of the gang :wave2:
:wave2:

Because of all the crazy coming and going on our Oct Chicago wedding/WDW trip I made 8 different plane reservations on SW today! Let's see 3 flights to Chicago, 3 flights to Orlando and 2 flights from Orlando to home .... guess which one of us doesn't have a return ticket yet???
That's awesome !

He texted back "Land". Then he called me. I started telling him why this might be a good year for DL instead and he agreed. He was actually shocked that I am talking about switching from WDW. He said he thought I meant another time. He said maybe we can do both. I love this man. He is out of his freaking mind but I love him for trying to make me happy!

So I am leaning towards "land". I sure wish I had a pin or something. I am seriously considering booking airfare this week. I have enough rewards to get my ticket free so that helps some. Plus I have credits on each of the kids from a price reduction last year. Holy cow - we might be going to Disneyland!
I hope it works out!!!!!

And to all of those of you who want to know if I'm going to add this Dec trip to my crazy ticker .... the answer is no not until after my October trip ... then I'll add the DL trip and the grannie trip. My current ticker is just too much work!!!
:lmao:

Random question...but did the Smilies change locations? They are all out of order. Or did they add more? Something's different...
So I haven't lost my mind.....
He is taking turning 40 okay....only I keep calling him my "old man" now! I am so mean! I better watch it, I will be there too before too long!
Happy Birthday to your DH!!!!!40 is the new 25...yes I am almost 40...

The rain has finally ended here, a bit cloudy and windy, but at least not wet. I got a new car a few weeks ago, that's why it keeps raining in NJ
It is great for HRH's flowers...you are forgiven ;)

woke up with a migraine but just replying to you lot, thinking about Disney and drinking my coffee has started to help...
Hope youre feeling better

Pas what a multi quote!!:worship: I am just figuring out how to do it right!!
I have no problem with turning 40, it's just a number to me !! I don't think DH minds either, I am just riding him... Hey a girl has to have a little fun!!

His birthday is not until the 22nd of June, so he will be surprised on Friday I hope! Then DD 8th b-day is on June 19. We are taking a mini 4 day vacation on June 22 up to Algonquin Park (cottaging) to celebrate both of their birthdays.:lovestruc

I have too much to this aft....kids are making me:crazy2:, too much of this:laundy: have to go to work in a few hours. I feel a little overwhelmed today....I think this is why I love the vacation planning::yes::. Makes me feel a little better, because right now I think I could cry!!!

Sometimes its days like this that make me question being a SAHM during the day.

LOL I am going to quote myself! No really, I feel like starting a thread
"For SAHM's : when did you know it was time to get a full time job"

I know my kids are only young once, but after 8 years of being home all day with them...I feel a little frustrated some days. Working in the evening when DH gets home is all well and good, and a great option to have BUT it is getting very tiring. DH and I are like two ships passing in the night sometimes, and the nights I have off we are either coaching the girls soccer teams, or some other activity. I guess most families are like this too. I do love my life, but it seems there are never enough hours in the day to squeeze in me time, let alone DH and I time. Just needed to vent...thanks :flower3:

I wouldn't actually start that thread for real...I don't feel like getting flamed by the mean Disers out there!!!:(

I know so many people who married the same person twice, so you are not unusual at all! At least not in my little world!:goodvibes

Pas, you are not only the RC Queen, but Multi-quote Queen as well!!!

Darn, how I wish I could get down there in September, but not a chance...anyway, I have January to look forward to...hmm...think everyone voted for WL with the new refurb, yes? Someone will have to get us a great BB soon! ;) We can make ADRs next month! ::yes::

The smilies are going nuts again...cannot find anything...guess I can consider it a way to keep my brain on it's toes!!!:rotfl2: Ya know, the cup always half full.;)

I completely understand. I work completely around my DHs schedule. Which leaves me home Mon-Fri all day. School, kids, doctors, groups, etc...then to work. :scared: I hte my job...not what I do, but where I work...DH is all over me that I never spend time with him...I don't and when I am home, I am tird and want to go to bed. That's why our trip is very important. It's only 3 nights....but we need it. It's not easy...vent away...and jenny, never frget to stop and breathe...every day is a new day, and being at home with the kids is the hardest job ever, but priceless. We get it :flower3:

Is January a shorter trip than Dec? Maybe we should save WL for Dec, the Christmas decorations and it's one of the cheaper deluxes. Of course I love WL so I could stay there both trips and come to think of it they are almost a year apart. :confused3

 We all did vote for WL CL...it's coming back to`me now :rotfl: I wasn't sure if it was a "for sure" on the resort.

For my August trip...I priced out CR...again...not in the budget. Money is tight here...for now hopefully...DH mentioned we could cancel the trip in August but no way. We will make it work...:goodvibes
a I am too stubborn to give up RPC in September...no way!!!

A "for sure" resort with this group!!! :rotfl2:

Do not cancel your August trip .... Mama Linda says!!!

You all will not believe what just almost happened. I almost booked one night RBC for Danimal and I. It was only $480! :scared1: I am still considering it. A night to just get away from everyone and cuddle in a king sized bed. If it is available on payday then it's meant to be. If not then I won't stress it. :thumbsup2

I hear you! I actually don't work at all, and there are days I feel like I would pay to go work. :scared: :rotfl:

I do love my life too, but I know what you mean. I was planning on returning to work this fall when my 6 year old starts 1st grade. Unfortunately, nature had other plans and now I will probably wait another few years to stay home with DD1. I can't even work at night because DH often gets called to travel (some times for weeks at a time!) at a moments notice. Ugh!

Vent away! I don't think there is one right answer, just what is right for each family. :goodvibes
