Magic - does this mean you all are at the Poly with a...sigh... Cabana in August? How long will you be able to join them? It all sounds like Disney heaven!:thumbsup2

Sarah - carried you near in thought and prayer yesterday...so hoping when we hear from you it will be good news.

Awww...now that is pretty darn sweet!:goodvibes (and you are pretty darn clever!!;))

I just saw the AP discounts for summer. Only 5% at Poly? Do they realize how many empty rooms they have? :sad2:

Disney is going to shoot themselves in the foot with these ridiculous so called discounts...and then they'll have to bring back the big 42-45% again. Let's just watch and then reap the benefits.;) Only a matter of time...

The lack of discounts is all due to that new whatever his name is...he decided to "wean" guest from the good discounts because they can fill "room inventory"...except the stats he was looking at were all due to big discounts!

Disney offered great discounts for years - and long before 2001. But we shall see....fingers crossed in the end he will realize the big room prices and lack of great amenities will drive many guests elsewhere - those guests who came from off-site hotels because of the discounts will go back to those hotels.

Guess I'd better get off my soapbox about this issue!! :rotfl:

Okay I need some advice here RCers. Here's the story so far:

5/2 - booked POR for 9 nights. 5 people (DH, me, MIL, DS 7 & DD 4 at time of travel) love the refurb rooms and the extra murphy bed. Looking forward to the grounds, large pool and boat to DTD

5/5 - start to read some reviews and panic thinking that we're going to have a hard time fitting us all in with room for luggage and a folded double stroller

5/8 - call and change res to 3 nights at POR then switch to 6 nights at AoA family suite. Happy with change because it will mean more room to stretch out later (and longer) but still get to enjoy the extra stuff at POR first.

5/8 (evening) - tell DH about switch (don't tell him it's an extra $1800 b/c of our DDP, his mom is paying for the trip anyway so its none of his business). He expresses concern about switching and kids reaction (going to leave it a surprise for them) and says "what if we love the first place and hate the second one what then?"

5/9 (today) - start reading about split stays and hearing that you should never start higher and go down in category. now I'm also wondering with free dining coming will I be able to use it or will it not apply to AoA.

Other info - I got a pin for 10% off room only that is applied to the POR portion but is not available for the AoA portion

Help. Do I change again when free dining is announced? Am I crazy to downgrade resorts mid-way through the trip? :confused3

I was able to get a 2 bed condo for less than 1 room at Pop for my Seaworld visit...just sayin...

It's crazy...I got 30% off YC...25% off GF or CR...5% WL & POLY :confused3

I completely agree. Do thy not realize the economy hasn't recovered? Interest rates at the bank are at an all time low. Unemployment is a huge problem. Cost of living is soaring. They must be losing in a different world than the rest of us. Of course our bank accounts are nothing alike. That could have a huge part in it.

I do not see AoA as a downgrade. Think of all that extra space....I would do the whole trip AoA...if you were going three kids...POR is doable, 3 adults kinda tight fit IMO does DMIL have any thoughts?

and :welcome:

Well, when you don't have to make resort changes anymore, what does the change-obsessed do??? WHY start in on their ADRs of course!!! :rotfl2:
Leave it to me, in the Span of a couple days, I've booked 50's PT Cafe, cancelled PT, booked SCI FI dinner, cancelled SCI FI dinner......now I JUST booked SCI FI LUNCH! geesh.....hopefully I can finally leave it alone!!!! :rolleyes1
I thought that nice burgers and shakes sounded much better as a lunch time meal and break from the park.....then that leaves dinner open on our DHS day for us to just wing it with a QS credit.....the boys can go off on their own and not worry about meeting up for an ADR, they can hit up EPCOT EMH till 12am if they want (looks like I'll have to add on PH'ers ;) ) my BFF and I can do what we like, stay for F! at 8pm if we like, or just hit the Poly for a nice break

..... Depending on where the mood swings! It'll be our last day in Disney before heading over to Universal. maybe we can sleep in a tad, and get to the park around 10 am instead of 9. I have never yet seen ALL of F!, I usually leave when Mickey stands by the mountain to beat the crowds to the busses.....I have to decide if I really feel like fighting F! crowds or not....maybe this is the Yr to see ALL of the show :confused3 DHS is a park that doesn't really take ALL day.....as long as I get in my favorites TOT and RNRC, art of animation and a ride on TSM, we are good! So I don't think I will want to stick it out there waiting for F! To start......we will play it by ear, I guess :)

I wouldn't put that many people in a POR room. IMO you'd be better off at AoA the entire trip like pas said. That's a super tight squeeze.

I hear ya! ::yes::

This is not looking good for WL discounts for January....well, I say we stay wherever we find the best rate...it will be fun wherever we stay...one good reason for WL was cost, but if it winds up with a 5% discount and YC is 30%....well, then it is a no brainer. I have been expecting Disney to charge more for WL b/c of the refurb...so add that to a possible 5% and geesh...;)

I am not a big fan of split stays, because I feel like it takes a day out of our trip...but...it is much easier with a car. We drove over early, fortunately room was ready b/c it was a very quiet season. Why not AOA for the entire stay?

It would be so much fun for the kids...and adults! It is brand new, you have different themes from which to choose...and the extra room cannot be beat!

Or what about 2 Little Mermaid rooms at AOA? It would be less $ than a suite, 4 full size beds, 2 full bathrooms (one of the AOA bathrooms is a shower, no tub), 2 TV's and 2 refrigerators...either way, it would be a great fit for your family and lots of fun too!:thumbsup2

AOA is now qualifying for some discounts and free dining when it's offered. ::yes::

Nope, they live in a world of huge salaries and very likely free rooms!:(

I do not see AoA as a downgrade. Think of all that extra space....I would do the whole trip AoA...if you were going three kids...POR is doable, 3 adults kinda tight fit IMO does DMIL have any thoughts?

Agree! Three adults, a double stroller and munchkins would not a happy family make in one POR room. Those rooms are small, large furniture...one bathroom. I'd not do for even one night.
