As the Ticker Turns...the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Texasgingerbread are you still at Poly next month?? I think you'll be good to go!

I am sorry to be such a brat but I refuse to stay at a resort they are doing major construction at. Brings me back to when I cried at the GF. Hate looking at dirt and walls :(

Not a brat. :-) Understandable, and if everything else was still going to be under construction, I would probably stay put, but since it will *just* be the East pool area, I will be somewhat sheltered from it (I think). And we're not going back to Disney anytime soon, SO...

Before you change, look at the plans for the East pool again..it's fairly expansive. Then look up when GF did the Courtyard pool, that's how much it's going to affect things. I would hate for anyone to go in thinking it's a small part of the resort. My fear was going in not worrying and then really being disappointed :(

It's expansive, yes, but contained somewhat between Tokelau, Hawaii, Samoa, and Raratonga. (Is that the other one there?)

Thanks though. :-)

I'll weigh in on Poly again, as it looks like both Trader Sam's and the Lava Pool will be open for our dates. We're sticking with BC so we can stay construction-free for a while. My other concern is that we're going over a holiday weekend and I'd like to avoid the sightseeing crowds (which will include me!) at our resort. Also, with east pool construction, that entire area that guests walk through from DVC areas to the pool, GCH and monorail is going to be pretty construction-heavy. It's going to have a bigger impact than a quiet pool renovation elsewhere, like BC, BWI, etc. My new criteria for Poly includes construction-free entrance (wow - that was a LOT and from the photos, it looks like they are still working) and no more screens/alternate walkways, etc. All of this was fine for Marathon Weekend - it was really cold and I was completely focused on the races - and in the days leading up to our stay, it was warm and we enjoyed the pools during our AKL and GF stays.

P.S. I love Poly and everyone should just ignore me if you want! I had a great time amongst the construction in January, so maybe everyone else will too!

Which would be better construction-wise for end of August/ beginning of September--Poly or BC? Thanks.
BC I think will have internal refurb going on at the Villas. Poly will have the construction at the now Quiet pool area which will be completed next year, the Main pool will be open. We changed from Poly to BC in August

Hmmmm, thinking about switching from 8 night stay mid August from Poly to BC. I'm thinking with only one pool open at the Poly, it will be crazy busy there. We like the quiet pool and the kids go off to the main pool. BC's pool is quite large and has a quiet pool that is open. What ya'll think?

Poly's new pool looks great, but I get what you're saying. We switched to BC just to not be close to construction and for the new refurb. I think it depends which location you would rather be in..MK or Epcot :) Either resort is fab!

I'm considring switching from WL CL to Poly CL at the beginning of October. Thoughts? How do I go about it?

Just call the main Disneyworld reservation number, there's an option to change your reservation. Unless you used a travel agent, then they handle it all. Easy peasy!

We switched from Poly to BC for Easter Weekend. We stayed at Poly twice during construction (4/14 and 1/15) and enjoyed both stays. But our most recent stay was for marathon weekend so we were running most of the time and it was freezing so we didn't go near the pool. In August, I'd go with BC (probably with or without construction!) SAB in the summer is outstanding and it's so nice to have the quiet pool available to get away from the crowds for a bit.

I'm currently booked at the Poly for June 29-July 5. I know the main pool will be open for our stay but I'm thinking I want to wait until next summer to stay at the Poly for the first time, once all the major construction is complete. This is also my first trip without my parents/whole family, me and my sister are going for our birthdays. We are primarily concerned with the bus situation (whether buses are shared and how long it takes to get to and from) and the size of the feature pool.

We're thinking of switching to Coronado Springs because we've heard good things about the bus system, the relatively central location, and the quality of the amenities offered for a moderate price. We're concerned by the fact we might have to hike a mile to get to the main building to refill our drink cups, and the theming isn't anything special to us (we're from Texas). The pool looks amazing though, and we're thinking it might be worth it to book a preferred room? We've heard negative things about the rooms feeling too plain and not Disney enough, but they look decent from the pictures we've seen. Nothing special but not awful either. The food here isn't a big pull for us, we'll probably avoid most of it since we get authentic Mexican and Tex Mex food at home. We've read that the bus stations leaving the parks are close/quick to get to for CSR, which is nice because we've had to hike all the way to the very last spot at EPCOT after a 12 hour day and it was one of the most miserable experiences of my life.

We're also looking at Wilderness lodge, because of the cheaper deluxe price and proximity to the MK. But we're concerned about the possibility of sharing buses with other resorts for the price we're paying. The theming is cute and the pool is nothing spectacular, but we like that there's a "beach" we can sit out at during our afternoon breaks. The dining options here seem to be nice, too. We've read the rooms are on the smaller side but we like that everything is in one interior building with the exception of the bus, pool, and boat launches. Walking is at a minimum here, which will be good when we're going during the heat of the summer.

We like the pirate rooms at CBR but have read bad things about the buses here, and the layout seems confusing to us. There's a lack of dining choices, and the main pool seems cramped in all the pictures I've seen posted. The rooms almost seem fun enough to make up for this, though.

If you were choosing, which of the three would you pick to switch to? We're entirely undecided between CSR and WL, with the pirate rooms being a wild card at this point. Help!

Going over 4th of July, I think I would stick with Poly or go with WL. CSR has multiple stops within the resort (same with CBR) and it's a definite pain when trying to cram so many people in a bus since that's a BUSY time! We had really good luck with the buses at WL last year and much preferred it over POR. Where will you spend your time mostly? Watching 4th of July fireworks inside a park or not?
