Wow you've been busy. How are you enjoying it there? Hello Kitty Harmonyland???

You couldn't make that up, lol!!! Very cool all the places you're getting to see. You must go meet your friend in TDR!!! No question about it!!
We have our usual August trip planned. We were supposed to stay at Poly last August, but we jumped ship to GF when it was announced the main was going to be closed. So this trip will be Poly.
I admit I don't sit still well and since I am currently not working, I am antsy, so I have been touring around. That said, the train goes everywhere and I'm itching to have an excuse to hop the Shinkansen (bullet) train - it costs but man, it's fast!!! DH has to go up to Tokyo for work so it's a fantastic excuse for all of us to go since his ticket and the hotel room are covered! Plus, Japanese schools just started so the touristy spots (like TDR) are emptier. You want to see crazy, the pictures of TDR the first weekend of the Easter overlay was INSANE... makes Christmas at WDW look tame!
I'm so anxious to hear about the Poly! The bungalows look nice (out of my range, but nice), but I am hoping the ambiance of the resort is still good. After living in Hawaii, I came to appreciate the feel at the Poly even more... I'd hate for that to be gone!
I loved Hello Kitty! My mom, however, did not. So now, I love buying her Hello Kitty doo dads now and then just to be silly. Love your updates!
I am not going to lie... I am a bit Kitty-ed out. Mostly because LO just discovered "meow" and DD7 keeps finding HK stuff in the thrift shops and is slowly taking over her wardrobe with the cuteness. Hubby was hoping to skip out on the theme park of sweetness but with it being closed the ONE sunny day, we had to postpone. Poor, hubby - he'll have to sit through the sweetness this summer! THat said, I am always scouting for some Keroppi or Pochacco items.
Hello everyone!
I never knew there was a group of us!!!!
I was in conflict last year and changed and I don't think it was the best fit for us (WL to GF….bittersweet trip after my mom passed, she always wanted to stay there). We stayed at WL in 2013. We are booked the WL again 7/11-7/17 but the summer saving at the Poly is making the standard room look appealing and I don't think we'll be able to afford it again (or so I'm hearing) and I'd like to try different resorts, even though we always say WL is our home resort. Am I annoying yet??
So, what's really holding me back is that the Poly can't guarantee balconies/patios on all the rooms (2nd floors). How much did that bother anyone that's had this kind of room and did you have a problem not getting your request made? I don't really want to spend even the extra $400 and not have that. Esp since we love WL, but I've always loved the Poly, even as a little kid. I can get a little cabin feverish in a room so a balcony or patio is nice for me.
Our trip last year was a little drab last year because of my mom and grandmother's death side by side so I really want to make it come alive again. SO I can't decide if I want to mess with a good thing or try something different and adventurous! The construction isn't really bothering me all that much, the pool is done and that was my main concern. And not going until July is 3 months away….
Hello! Honestly, I would say to go for the Poly if for no other reason than you might not be able to do it again... that's how we ended up at YC one trip (we snagged a great rate!) and ended up loving it. I really liked WL when we stayed there last summer, but I regret not doing Poly before all the remodel when prices were cheaper. It may move out of feasibility now. It's nice to know that either way your will be happy - def not a bad thing!
Wow am I glad this thread exists!(although DH would never believe it does)

I thought I was the only one that has changed resorts this many times. So the question is... CBR, CSR, or POP? currently booked at POP(but don't like the fact that pools are not 24hrs as my DD's like to swim when the parks close) and we were booked at CSR, and now thinking about switching to CBR. Although I really want to stay at POFQ! (however doubt it will be offered even if FD becomes available!)
I admit I was not expecting much from a mod, but I LOVED CSR! Everyone made me nervous talking about the size, but we found the size more than manageable, the busses awesome, Pepper Market was better than good, and the service was amazing! We stayed this past Christmas as a group of 12 in 4 rooms and everyone loved it - and I had some non-Disney, very picky peeps in our group. I felt like CSR was centrally located, the busses ran much more frequently than some of the other resorts (we had multiple busses pull up after closing on the 23rd and Christmas Eve while POR/FQ and AoA were still waiting for theirs). The only small bumps we had were more than taken care of and one amazing plus was the CM's in the food areas ensured we maxed our our dining plan credits - they would point DD7 toward the desserts or make sure we grabbed a bottled drink with our refillable. Totally amazing service and gorgeous resort!
Koh - I am keeping your fam in my thoughts!!!

So, I totally meant to say - the mall in Hiroshima has a
Disney Store and it is SO different than US stores... very upscale and more adult items (cell phone cases, nicer barrettes and towels, purses, beautiful stationary...) They have a strong fan base for some of the ancillary characters - Marie, Chip and Dale, and lately there have been a fashionable Minnie and Daisy combo. Weirdly (but fortunately for me!) they also LOVE Orange Bird, so I snagged a plushie and have him hanging in my car to remind me of WDW! Apparently, Japan has an Orange Day in April so he tends to pop up to celebrate!
Also, Duffy is INSANEEEEEE - people go nuts! They also have this thing called 'Beariversity' with Duffy friends that have different attitudes and outfits. The whole thing was surreal - I knew I was in a Disney Store but it felt like a Nordstrom version. We are hoping to hit the store in Harijuku and Shibuya on our Tokyo trip; my friends said there is nothing like it. Movies take longer to get here, and we are finally getting Cinderella soon!!! YAY!
We had a small quake today which was a great way to ease into the whole situation - I am not a fan of shakers and don't look forward to some of the bigger ones I have heard talk about. Slowly learning Japanese; hoping to pick up some jobs tutoring English to the locals... options are thin where we are so until then, I am off to explore because "Adventure is out there!"

to everyone!!!
