dd left her beach towel at a friend's house saturday night. the friend brought dd's towel to Amber's party, expecting dd to be at the party. the friend left the towel at Amber's house.

this afternoon my sister went to Amber's house to pick up the towel. she says the scared look on Amber's face was priceless.

no one-- not my sister, not Amber, not Amber's mother -- said a word about the party. Amber's mother never asked why my dd wasn't at the party. my sister is of the opinion that Amber's mother knows what happened. my sister didn't say a word -- we'll let dd deal with Amber.

I hope your daughter continues to be the kind and caring girl you have described here, many times. I hope she will decide that there is no "dealing" necessary. She seems to be quite mature for her age and I hope she is able to get past this situation.

I imagine Amber's mother <i>did</i> know. I don't know how she could have <i>insisted</i> that your daughter be included on the guest list. Somtimes kids are just mean to each other.

I hope your daughter isn't still feeling hurt by this. What goes around comes around. All she really has to do is wait.

I consider this a learning experience for my girls.

both what happened with younger dd and Amber, and what happened with older dd and Heather earlier this year.


they both learned that not everyone is going to be a true friend. but I think they both learned how to deal with that, and how to do so in a way that does not exacerbate bad feelings. they'll be going to school with these girls through middle school and high school.
