AS Movies or POP?

I know this has been beaten to death, but one more question. We've been to POP before and really liked it. However, ds3 is a huge Toy Story Fan, so we thought it might be fun to try that. The budget is not going to allow AKL like we planned. :(

So. We will have a car with us. Here are my questions:
What is the bus service like compared to POP?
What have people thought was better or worse about AS Movies compared to POp for those who have stayed there before?

THanks a million! :)

I am staying at POP this year but last time we went we stayed at the ASMo
LOVED IT!!! my boys were @ 3 and 6 and they loved the movie theme. as i have not yet stayed at POP i am expecting it to be nice too. but since the only major difference is theme, and transportation try something new!!!
:smooth:

We haven't stayed at any of the All Stars but we love Pop! For the rate we get, you can't beat it!

I am staying at one of the All Star resorts this march, and i am a little skeptical about it.

Usually I stay at POR, and I love it there. That is by far my favorite WDW resort. The all star hotels always seemed to be a little cheap, and I stayed at AAS a long time ago, and I remember thinking that it wasn't that much more spectacular than a regular holiday inn lol. Hopefully the one we stay at will be nice.

I just love POR though, it is beautiful, the service was great, and I loved listening to the piano player. Great place.

There pretty much the same, with the exception that POP is newer, and ASM shares a bus with the other AS's while POP has it's own. Other than that, it really comes down to personal preference.

Haven't stayed at Pop (yet) but we stayed at ASMovies last fall and it was great! We didn't have any problems with the busses at all, one morning we had to wait about 15 minutes for a bus to Epcot, that was our longest wait. At park closing the busses were crowded, but that's going to happen anyway, too many people going the same place at the same time.

We stayed in the TS section and my boys loved it!

Maybe I'm biased... (okay, so I know I am) but I prefer Pop Century. Why? Theming set aside, Pop Century took the All Star rooms, figured out what worked, and what didn't work, and made them a lot nicer and better. I stayed at Pop Century during Hurricane Jeanne, and then All-Star Movies immedietly following, when I didn't have any power in my apartment. I chose Movies because I had been stuck in my room at Pop for 36 straight hours, and just wanted something different, or I'd go crazy. I wished I had stayed at Pop. But that's just me... :)

I think the kids had more fun at ASMovies...then at POP....
My SIL has 4 kids under the age of 5, including twin 2 1/2 yo boys...and they loved the ASMovies...they were only there for 3 days...but the kids loved the themes! They were in the Dalmation building...which was a close walk to everything. Every morning they would wake up to Pongo outside of their window...and puppies funning along the railings! They liked swimming in both pools, but I think they favored the Fantasia one! They had a ball playing in the "closest area" of the Toy Story buildings, and liked climbing all over the toys!
When we switched over to POP we brought them to play in the pool for a few hours with us...they liked it...but weren't as excited. There wasn't anything eye catching to them! Yes they saw the Big Wheels and the Play-doh...but thats chump change compared to Woody and Buzz. They did like the bowling pin pool...and the MR and MRS Potato Head...but that was pretty much it...

I prefered POP overall and personally think POP is more adult friendly then the ASmovies...Its fun to look back at the 80s and 90s memorbilia, all that stuff means something to me...thats my childhood and memories! I got why each building was decorated the way it was....obviously the toddlers didn't!

Just thought I'd give you my opinion!

I think POP is a little more centrally located. Also, I understand they don't take school groups. Depending on when you go that could be a big plus. NO :cheer2: outside your door early in the morning.

You can't go wrong either way. Like other's have said, there are advantages and disadvantages to both. We preferred ASMO a little but strictly because we had a better location (dalmations bldg.) within the resort. At Pop, our location was the 80's and it wasn't bad it just seemed like we were further away from things than we had been at ASMO. Pop had one thing I loved, (kind of silly but loved it nonetheless) a little shelf under the mirror in the vanity area. The bathrooms at values are small with only one sink. Having that shelf was nice to store things. Pop also had a bigger tv and nicer dressers. Whichever theming appeals to you, go with that one, you will have so much fun!

DH, DS (then 4) and I stayed at All Star Music back in 1996 - our first stay onsite
This Aug DS (will be 13) & I are staying 5nights at Pop before switching to WL & BCV. I thought never again would we stay at a Value but Im thinking of it as a mini-vacation before our vacation.

thanks for all the great replies!

AS luck would have it, when our ta tried to get us into either, there were no more codes so now we're booked into POFQ b/c the code rate was cheaper than the rack at POP or AS.

I'm going ot keep calling though.

Thanks again! :)
