As I sit here enjoying my cup of joe, i'm getting nervous about POP coffee........

I am taking packs of Tim Hortens with me. :rotfl2: I'm taking a little part of Canada with me :cool1:

I always take my own electric kettle and a french press coffee maker. My whole coffee kit has its own duffle bag for travel. If I don't have a decent cup of coffee in the morning, my day just drags. I know I shouldn't admit to this addiction, but as addictions go, I guess it isn't too bad. :goodvibes

By the way, I had posted recetnly if anyone knew where to get a PLASTIC carafe french press (for travel) and got lots of great suggestions. I did find one here in Toronto at St.Lawrence Market. The web-site on the box is www.bonjourproducts.com if anyone is interested.

Yes Toad, this is exactly what I did for DCL. THey also serve only Nescrap which is, from what I understand, liquid coffee concentrate (can you say "goop") mixed with water. Sorta like them same way they do fountain sodas.

Anyway, found a plastic travel mug/french press at Starbuck last year ( on the clearance rack, no less) and a pound of ground Peets and every morn I'd bring my mug up to deck 9 filled w/Peets and add my hot water, go back to my balcony and say, "life IS good".

I think the reason why they put a coffee bar in at the last dry dock was because there were SO many complaints about the coffee. It's not like you could travel to find a decent cup 'o coffee ;) .

I love everything about Disney EXCEPT the coffee. I have been several times since 1990 and the one thing that I can give them credit for is they are consistent. It's been terrible every time. I never drank battery acid but I imagine that it must be pretty close to the same thing. :drinking1 :crazy2:

Disney are you listening :listen:

We are going to WDW on 12/3 and staying at AKL for a week. As my name states, I need to have decent coffee. I am planning on shipping a package to my room with my coffee, etc. Is there a coffee maker in the rooms at AKL? What about a refrigerator?

I have to have half-n-half in my coffee. Not the flavored stuff, just the good ole fat. I won't drink coffee if my choices are milk or Cremora!!!

Do the resort shops sell half-n-half? We are making a grocery stop en route to AKL but only for some dry goods and alcohol. We land at 10:30am so I am thinking our room won't be ready.

Please, other coffeelovers, any advice?

Thanks!!!!

coffeelover, I have not stayed at AKL so not sure what they will have in their store. BWV usually has half and half but there have been several times that it was sold out and not restocked for several days. If there is not a coffee maker in the room you can call and have one delivered to your room. I always rent a car and go to Publix for this stuff and there is a Starbucks right on the way!!! Have a great trip!!! ::MinnieMo

I believe there is a Starbucks at the Dolphin, or the Swan...can't remember which.

We just stayed at Pop and had bottled water, pretzels, and french vanilla coffee creamer shipped from Staples.com -- they also had Starbucks you could order as well. Just sign up for their rewards program and shipping is free.

Who can tell me a little more about this? I am going to be at POP in 13 days & my family will wish I had stayed at home if I don't get a couple of cups of coffee. I will go to any lengths (as will they) to make sure this vice of mine has been satisfied. ;) Somewhere in the boards, I seem to remember several people complaining about the coffee at POP.....what is the story? I don't need Starbucks every day, but it has to be as least as good as Foldgers :rotfl:

Okay I've never stayed at POP so haven't tasted their coffee, however, I just had to tell you how much I giggled at your post because I am a coffee NUT myself and sound just like you only my coffee has to be as good as Gevalia. BTW, I actually go to bed at night thinking about my cup of coffee in the AM! :rolleyes1

I gave it up once for 3 or 4 weeks.....I was depressed, crying, irrational, and I couldn't explain it. One day my DH said, "you know, I think you need to start drinking coffee again"! I did & it was a happy day! I guess it could be worse....... ;)

This post made me giggle at first then made me think!!! And I have to say is wow is it great to be back, my computer crashed a month ago and I havent been on in a while!!! I too need coffee first thing in the morning and dont particularly like the Nescafe so I know Foldgers has these little packets that you put in hot water almost like making Tea but its coffee... I will be doing that, but it will be tourture and by the end of my trip I will probably be going nuts, lol !!!!!
Or maybe I just might have to bring my coffee maker with me!!!! We'll see!!!

In August we stayed off-site near Shearbeth Rd and 192. There is a Dunkin Donuts in the area. We stopped there in the evenings for coffee even though our condo had a coffee maker.

So, do all mods (CBR) have a 4-cup coffee maker and filters in the room? Should I just bring my own ground coffee or should i bring those coffee "pods"? I will freak out in the morning without a good "fix".(not a pretty sight)

Just got back from Pop last week and dh HATED the coffee. We had Starbucks at the airport because he knew about the coffee ahead of time. In the West side of Downtown Disney the Virgen Mega Store has a really nice coffee bar on the top floor. I think they sold Seattle coffee. When we got back to the airport dh made a b-line for the first Starbucks he saw LOL!

I love the Nescafe....guess I'm weird ;) I love Starbucks, too...so I don't know why the Nescafe tastes so good to me, but I love Disney's coffee! :goodvibes

The coffee all over WDW is terrible. Lats year I had a CM explain to me the Disney several years back was having a terrible time disposing of the coffee grinds and the time in actually takes to brew. They made a decision to make the coffee from this concentrated coffee syrup! Yes Instant coffee invades the house of mouse!

I agree, the coffee at WDW is awful. I'll be another one bringing my coffee maker and coffee to POP. This trip is just me and my 2 youngest children. I wake up alot earlier than they do, so I can't just leave them in the room by themselves while I run for coffee.

I don't want to bring a full-sized coffee maker with because it will take up too much room in the suitcase, but I'm someone who needs LOTS of coffee in the morning (I'm too embarrassed to tell how much I drink...lol). So, I think I'll look for the 4-cup coffee maker at Walmart that someone posted about. I'll just have to refill it a few times in the morning!

LOL, I'm a fellow coffee snob. :cloud9:

We brought our Black and Decker Brew 'n Go travel coffee maker with us to Pop and it worked out great - fairly small, with no glass to break. Easy to set up the night before for a fresh cup of our favorite brew right when we get up. A link (although we got ours at Walmart for $9.99 and it came with two travel mugs):

With that said, it was SO nice to wake up to a cup of Starbucks when we stayed at the Dolphin last month. Disney really needs to do something about this abysmal coffee situation. :rotfl:

I purchase the Brew 'n Go at Walmart for our upcoming trip. DH doesn't drink coffee. I think this little machine with my Starbucks will get me up and going! :rotfl2:

I would highly suggest going to Wal-mart and purchasing one of those small coffee makers and taking your own coffee....the coffee at POP, like almost everywhere else at Disney is instant....I don't know about you, but I am a Starbucks girl and I just can't do instant! :rotfl2:
