As God as my witness.I'll never be sick at Disney World again~~~wrapping things up...

I vote Disney BUT I have an idea for kitchen. You said that they are metal cabinets etc well how about youtalk to your high school shop teacher & see if maybe he can come up woth a "project" for his class to do metal work on fixing or replacing the bad parts? That way you get Disney & a partial new kitchen & the school gets a great real life experience project to work on.

Our trade schools & high schools around here love to do that kind of thing all you have to pay for is materials & the students provide the labor.;)

Hope this helps.

Which is more important.....remodel the kitchen or go to disney world?

The logical side says the kitchen....it's still boasting it's original 1960's metal cabinets.

But on the other hand we only have 3 more years till Evan will be graduating.

Sometimes I'd swear there are two different people in my head arguing like they're on a debate team. Yes.....my mind is a scary place.

I'm going to vote for your Disney trip too!

:thumbsup2

Do you think anyone will think I'm odd if I tell them that at least one of my imaginary friends agrees with me?

Here's another friend telling you to go to Disney!

Oh I like that idea!

OOOhh this is a hard one. I too would love to get my kitchen updated, but I can't pass up a chance to go to Disney.

Sorry I'm not much help.

Disney!!!!
:banana::banana:

Kitchen. It's the heart of the home.
I guess the heart of my home is a little on the broken side.

Oh Cherie, I would have to vote Disney, too! Our two are grown and one lives in Texas now - the other one has a wife that doesn't want to be around us much - all of the family things we did are a treasure now and we won't get that time back.
I don't know what I'll do once my kids are out of the house. The only good thing I can think of about them all being gone one day is...I can clean a room and it will still be clean 10 minutes later.

I know when you're thinking of going so I'm gonna go with WDW.....:thumbsup2
:rolleyes1

Disney World, naturally! Besides, your kitchen cabinets are vintage and that whole retro thing is so in right now. (See that, problem solved!)

You want to go in November for free dining. Yep. You think the 15-21st sounds perfect. You do.
I guess my kitchen must be the thing to have if you like the whole retro thing.

I would love to go in november!!! But it's not gonna happen this year. D.Jay sister is getting married so if we go anywhere that month it will be to minneapolis.

I'd like to have a talk with the brilliant person who decided metal cabinets are a good thing.

:headache:
I'm going to vote for your Disney trip too!

!
:yay:

OOOhh this is a hard one. I too would love to get my kitchen updated, but I can't pass up a chance to go to Disney.

Sorry I'm not much help.

Actually you are helping make me feel somewhat normal since most of my family think I'm crazy for even thinking of a vacation over a new kitchen.

My brain can be a very scary place sometimes. I've had 101 different plans and justifications rolling around in there for a couple of weeks.

So, here's what I'm thinking. There is absolutley no way I can take the kids to disneyworld and redo the kitchen. The cupboards alone cost the same as an 8 day trip for 6.

Originally my thought was to go the first week of febuary with the kids, but then I thought maybe if I pushed it back to the first week of May, it would give me a little more time to save up the money so I could do both.

But my little sister called me awhile ago with some good news...she's expecting and it'll be the first part of may. No disneyworld trip in may.
I'm so excited for her. Those who have followed my trs probably remember what an ordeal she's had. Between cancer and a few other complications it was a miracle when she got pregnant with her first , and she's 2 now. So this is just an extra bonus!

I'll be going to stay with her for 2 weeks to help out. Really it's purely selfish on my part.

So I'm back to square one....and then it hit me! D.Jay and I haven't been on a vacay by ourselves for almost 5 years.

Here's the plan dh & I go by ourselves and I get the new kitchen.

He loves the idea and I'm kinda excited about it too. Disney is a totally different experience without the kids. Now, I just have to figure out how I'm going to finance this, convince dh we can afford it and then I'm set.

See, I told you it's scary in here.

Do it!!! Tom and I are going in December without the kids, and I cannot wait! Think you could swing December instead of February???

Okay, the one without Simba is my new favorite! lol

I have to say I like the way you think too!!!

Dennis and I did an adult only trip in 2002 and loved it. We keep saying we're going to go back during the F&W Fest one year. Now that we only have one at home it might be something we can actually do.

Go For It!:cheer2:

it is priceless! To someone who doesn't know about the simba pictures, it would really look funny.

I am liking the idea of an adults-only trip plus the new kitchen!!!
:thumbsup2
I'm just getting my "plan of attack" ready......d.jay won't know what hit him.

When we went solo 5 years ago it was the first time either of us had been to WDW. The entire time we kept saying "oh the kids would love that"! So, then I decided we had to take the kids, just once. Well that turned into 3 times.
I am looking forward to being able to relax a little.....I have a hard time doing that on vacations.

We did the same thing! It wasn't my first trip, but it was for Dennis. Within hours he was hooked and trying to figure out how to come back with the kids. Now that that's done I think we too will be able to take advantage of the time alone and enjoy just being there.

LOVE your logic. This way you get everything you want :)
yep, I can have my cake and eat it too!
does anyone even know what exactly that means?:rotfl:

I think we'll be more relaxed because we've been there several times before and we won't be concerned about all the things the kids would love.

We had a little meet with Lilo & Stitch Stitch is Bailie's favorite so it was a must do.

Next we went to FOTLK. We chose that over Nemo for purely sentimental reasons. Lion King was the first disney we took Evan to see. He was almost 1 and we went to the drive inn. :cloud9: Whenever I see the Lion king I think of him as a little boy......I can't believe that little boy is now 16 and a little over 6 ft.

MIL was blown away by how great the show was. I knew she would be and the kids love getting into the animal noises....well the boys do. Bailie just sits and pretends she doesnt' know the strange people she's sitting with.

AFter the show it was time for a little shopping. The kids all had money burning a hole in their pockets.

Bailie bought this sucker and was very proud of how big it was...

Somehow she had missed the even bigger ones.....

We had a bit of time to kill before the parade so we just wandered a bit.

We picked out our favorite parade spot....right across from the safari next to where the parade starts. D.Jay and Evan went in search of snacks and we all enjoyed some popcorn while we watched the parade.

We were all really tired at this point and we had plans to go to fantasmic that night so we headed back to the resort for a little rest.

The kids went for a little swim, I don't have any idea what D.Jay and Mil did, but I laid down for a nap. Between my foot and back I wasn't sure which hurt worse and I was getting a killer headache. I have to be carefull when the headaches hit because they have a tendancy to make me pass out. Lots of fun.

By the time everyone was back in the room I knew I needed to just hang out at the resort, take a pill and get some rest. Bailie wanted to stay with me so we said goodbye to the others as they headed for Fantasmic.

Bailie and I made a quick trip to the food court for some dinner....said hello to Phil the frog along the way and on the way back up the stairs Bailie triped and her diet coke went everywhere! It looked like a coke puddle. I called mousekeeping to let them know about the new water feature and that's about all I remember that night.

When I take one of my little friends they either knock me out or make me act strangely if I'm not able to get to sleep. I vaguely remember everyone else getting back frozen into peoplecicles.

up next....the sun will come out...tomorrow.

I'm so sorry you got a headache and missed Fantasmic. That was sweet of Bailie to stay back with you!

Denise

That picture of Bailie and Hunter with their suckers is great!!! :lmao:

What a shame you had a headache descend on you :(. Hope you felt better in the morning.
