This is the first year we wont be using our points due to an overseas trip planned. So we decided to get some spending money and rent out our points. I went to Davids website and clicked owners. Sends you to a page where you fill out all your information, such as home resort, points available and available to borrow. That being done, I guess we go into a que and wait to be contacted. Since we are boardwalk the very next day I recieved an email. It only states dates and points needed, no information of person who wants to rent. Davids makes it very clear on initial email time is of the essence. I passed on the first one as it was low points needed. Recieved another email similar but for a different request later that day. So I promptly emailed Davids back. Recieved a notice that they will send me all of potential renters information. That happened quickly, so I went online and looked for room availability, we didnt have boardwalk view available, but the points matched garden/pool view so I filled in all information for guest renter, which I did very slowly so as not to misspell names, etc. Note, there is a box that you must check under each name, not a member. Then emailed Davids right after to make sure that was alright, they said yes, unless specified "only" view requested, just book whats available. Sent confirmation number back and recieved info as to how to proceed. Sent official confirmation email from Disney directly back to David's. Money was sent to paypal pretty much within 48 hours. As the renters vacation approaches we as owners would have to set up magical express, etc., so not bad first experience. As ownwers we get 70% up front and rest when guest checks in to resort. Probably only time we will rent out our points as we like going to Disney every year. If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer if I can.

Thanks for sharing your personal experience.

I had a good experience like this with my BLT points, but not with my VGC points. I waited months for David’s to rent out my VGC points. But some of this was due to the fact that my points were for a future year and even with borrowing points, the reservation couldn’t start until ALMOST eleven months out. Since we always book at 11 months, I figured that somebody would jump on the opportunity to book VGC at 10 1/2 months (my UY is June) but no such luck. About 8 1/2 months before the date that a reservation could begin, I gave up and posted it here on the R/T board and rented most of my points pretty quickly. Sure enough, a week after that, David‘s DVC came up with a match that would’ve used all of our points. I wish that I had waited, but I gave up hope after I called David’s and they made it sound like they didn’t care and made me feel like I was being impatient. However I did not want to get stuck waiting and then have somebody think that I could book a room at six or seven months and there not be any availability.
